An American League match-up will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the Washington Nationals travel to face the Oakland Athletics Friday night at 10:05 ET at O. Co. Coliseum. This Friday night game will be the first in a three game series over Mother’s Day weekend.

The Nationals have been in California since Monday as they face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three game series and took two of those games. On Wednesday a 3-2 win sealed the series win for the Nats as they moved to 19-15 SU on this young season tied atop the National League East with the Miami Marlins. Center fielder Denard Span had a big game from the leadoff spot as he went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs. First baseman Adam LaRoche had two RBI’s as he was 1-for-3 in the win. He has five homers on the year and a solid .324 batting average to lead the team. On Friday night pitcher Doug Fister will get the start for Washington as he will be on the mound for the first time this season as he is returning from the 15-day Disabled List after suffering a back injury. Last season Fister was 14-9 with a 3.67 ERA in 32 starts with the Detroit Tigers. The ‘over’ is 7-1 in the Nats L/8 games as the ‘underdog’ and that could come into play with Fister seeing his first action and two explosive offenses.

The Athletics last played on Wednesday when they beat the Seattle Mariners 2-0 to avoid being swept at home after dropping three straight to the M’s. Pitcher Drew Pomeranz went 5.0 innings giving up no runs on two hits and gave way to the bullpen that gave up just one hit the rest of the way to preserve the win. Shortstop Jed Lowrie was 2-for-4 at the plate as he knocked in Craig Gentry. Left Fielder Yoenis Cespedes was 1-for-2 as he hit a solo homerun that was his sixth of the season. Left hander Tom Milone will get the start for Oakland as he brings a 0-3 record into this game with an ERA of 5.86 in 27.2 innings of work. He was rocked in his last start as the Boston Red Sox scored six runs on six hits in just 4.0 innings, three of those hits were homeruns. The A’s have one of the league’s best offensive lineups to this point scoring 4.74 runs per game. They will have to be at their best in this game to make up for a lack of effectiveness from their starting pitcher.

The Athletics have struggled at home going 7-9 SU and have lost their L/3 meetings with the Nationals. Look for a lot of runs to be scored in this game as neither pitcher will be able to hold these solid offensive lineups in check. We expect to see the A’s tee off against Fister and pull off an exciting win in front of the home crowd. Oakland is 22-10 in its L/32 interleague games and it will prevail in this one.
