Two of the best teams in the American League will meet in Major League Baseball betting action when the Boston Red Sox face the Texas Rangers Saturday night at 8:05 ET at Globe Life Park in Arlington on NESN. This will be the second of a three game series that the Rangers lead after a dominating win on Friday night.

The Red Sox fell 8-0 on Friday night in Arlington as they managed just one hit and three total base runners on the evening. Designated hitter David Ortiz had the only hit for Boston as Mike Napoli and Xander Bogaerts worked walks to complete its horrific offensive effort. The pitching wasn’t any better as Clay Buchholz made it just 4.1 innings giving up six earned runs on 10 hits to fall to 2-3 on the year. Boston will send left hander Jon Lester to the mound on Saturday as he tries to even up his record at 4-4 on this young season. In his last start Lester was spectacular going 8.0 innings allowing just one hit and no earned runs in a 6-3 win over the Oakland Athletics. The Red Sox are off to a slow start at 17-17 SU and they are 7-6 SU on the road. This will be a critical game for them to get as they hope to build more confidence in Lester on the hill and the offense will need to come around to put some runs on the board.

The Rangers win was never in doubt as they scored all of their runs in the first five innings of the contest. Shortstop Elvis Andrus was awesome at the plate going 4-for-5 and he scored three runs. The offense tallied 14 hits and in a game they dominated still left 14 men on base. Pitcher Yu Darvish was the story though as he went 8.2 innings and gave up his only hit with two outs in the ninth inning to Ortiz. Darvish struck out 12 Red Sox in the process of running his record to 3-1 and now has a 2.33 ERA. In this game the Rangers will call upon left hander Martin Perez who has a 3.59 ERA in 47.2 innings of work. Perez was lit up in his last start as he gave up five runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings in an 8-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. The offense has been solid for this team scoring 4.28 runs per game to rank No. 10 in the league. As Texas sits in second place at 19-17 SU in the AL West behind the A’s it will try to grab a 2-0 lead on Boston in this series.

The Red Sox are ‘favorites’ to win this game with Lester on the mound because he is fully capable of shutting down a powerful lineup with his stuff. We like the Boston offense to wake up and put some runs on the board as it won’t see anything like what Darvish had to offer in Friday’s match-up. Saturday’s have been kind to the Red Sox as they are 13-6 in their L/19 games played on that day of the week.

Boston Red Sox @ Texas Rangers Pick: Boston Red Sox -120
