Here is the MLB Picks for Tuesday May 13, 2014.

San Diego Padres at Cincinnati Reds

The San Diego Padres are playing very good baseball but they will rarely get a second look as a true contender.   The Reds are contenders, but they have not been playing like it lately as they are struggling with injuries early in the season. Andrew Cashner gets the start for the Padres and although he has struggled of late, this is a good spot to take a chance on the youngster. The Padres are getting hits at the right time and they are .279 against right handed pitchers in the last five outings. The Padres are 14-6 in their last 20 during game 1 of a series and the Reds are 2-6 in Mike Leakes last 8 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance. The Reds have lost Leake’s last four starts overall and that makes the Padres a value play in this spot.

Free Pick: San Diego Padres +110

Miami Marlins at LA Dodgers

The Miami Marlins are on a west coast road trip and that is usually a good team to fade a team, but I chose to back the Marlins in this game. This is purely a play against Josh Beckett, the starting pitcher for the Dodgers. Beckett is on the verge of ending his career and it is hurting the team. The Dodgers are 0-6 in Becketts last 6 home starts when he goes up against a team with a winning record and overall the Dodgers are just 5-16 in his last 21 starts. Fade the Dodgers when he takes the hill until further notice.

Free Pick: Miami Marlins +145

Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins

For the last play on the card we are going to take a look at the total in the game between the Twins and the Red Sox. The Red Sox have struggled on offense this season which has made them an under team as the O/U is13-22 this season. Ricky Nolasco is going for the Twins and the under has hit in three of his last four starts. The under is 12-4-2 in Red Sox last 18 road games and the under is is 9-2 in Twins last 11 overall. Look for another low scoring game in this affair.

Free Pick: Under 8.5
