An interleague battle will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the Chicago Cubs travel to face the Boston Red Sox Wednesday night at 7:10 ET on ESPN at Fenway Park. This will be the rubber match of a three game series with the Red Sox a ‘favorite’ to avoid the sweep.

The Cubs took a 2-1 decision over the Red Sox on Tuesday to win for the second straight night on the road. Third baseman Luis Valbuena delivered a sacrifice fly to score first baseman Anthony Rizzo to provide the difference in the ninth inning. Left fielder Chris Coghlan had the other RBI for Chicago as he finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Cubs starting pitcher Edwin Jackson gave them 6.0 innings allowing one run on six hits, but received a no decision. Left hander Travis Wood will get the start for the Cubs on Wednesday as he comes in with a 7-6 record and a 4.52 ERA in 95.2 innings of work. Wood received a no decision in his last start as he went 6.2 innings giving up three runs on seven hits in a 5-3 win over the Washington Nationals. Chicago is an impressive 7-3 in its L/10 games as an ‘underdog’ and will be trying to win some money for its loyal bettors in this one. If the Cubbies pitching staff can continue their ways it could go a long way in securing a sweep in Bean Town.

The Red Sox offense was absent again on Tuesday night as they have managed just one run in two games against the Cubs pitching staff. Second baseman Dustin Pedroia was the lone bright spot in the Boston lineup as he went 3-for-5 at the dish and provided the only RBI for his team with two outs in the fifth inning. Pitcher Clay Buchholz had an outstanding performance as he went 6.1 innings giving up just one run on five hits before leaving the game in the hands of the bullpen. Right handed pitcher Brandon Workman gets the ball for Boston as he comes in with a 3.27 ERA in 41.1 innings. Workman was respectable in his last start as he went 7.0 innings giving up four runs on seven hits and struck out five in a 6-0 loss to the New York Yankees. The Red Sox are 10-3 in their L/13 home games, but their offense will need to get geared up to avoid a sweep to the visiting Cubs.

The Cubs have been all about making some money as ‘underdogs’ of late as they have won two in a row in Boston to start this series. The Red Sox are seriously overpriced as the ‘favorite’ in this game and usually when that happens you see the dog come out on top. We are expecting to see the Cubbies pull out the sweep on the road behind a great night from Wood and the pitching staff that has been stellar in this series.
