An American League battle will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the Tampa Bay Rays travel to face the Detroit Tigers Sunday night at 8:00 ET on ESPN at Comerica Park. This will be the rubber match of a four game series between these two rivals with the Rays coming in as ‘favorites’ on the board.

The Rays took a 7-2 decision over the Tigers on Saturday to give themselves a chance to win this series on Sunday night. Right fielder Kevin Kiermaier had an outstanding game going 3-for-4 at the plate driving in three runs and scoring one of his own as he hit two triples. Second baseman Logan Forsythe also had a big day as he accounted for four of his team’s runs and drilled his third homerun of the season. Tampa Bay pitcher Chris Archer was great as he went 8.1 innings giving up just two runs on six hits to even his record at 5-5 on the year. Sunday will feature Rays’ ace David Price taking the hill as he continues to audition for other clubs with the trade rumors swirling around him. Though his team is having a down year, Price is having a great season and is the reason his club is ‘favored’ to win against one of the league’s best hitting lineups. Tampa Bay has been hot on the road going 7-1 in their L/8 games away from Tropicana Field.

The Tigers weren’t able to get much going against the Rays again and fell for the second straight day at home. Designated hitter Torii Hunter was the only player to register two hits off Archer in the loss. Right fielder J.D. Martinez and catcher Alex Avila hit homeruns to get their team on the board. Pitcher Annibal Sanchez was lit up as he managed to go just 5.2 innings allowing seven runs on six hits and took the loss to fall to 5-3 in his starts. Right hander Rick Porcello will get the start for Detroit on Sunday as he comes in with an 11-4 record and a 3.12 ERA in 106.2 innings of work. Porcello has been downright nasty not allowing a run in his last 25 innings of action and gone the distance with shutouts in his L/2 starts. Detroit has played well of late as it is 12-4 in its L/16 games overall. The ‘under’ will be quite enticing for bettors to take in this contest as it is 14-5-2 in the L/21 meetings.

The Rays lineup has produced 14 runs in the first three games of this series as they have made the effort to turn around a horrible start to the season. Price has a lot of motivation on his side with his situation being what it is he will need great performances to attract a suitor in the trade market. We like the Rays to get this done and pull out another road series win after sweeping the New York Yankees earlier in the week. If Tampa Bay can get off to a fast start this will be its biggest series win to date taking down a great group from Detroit.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Detroit Tigers Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -120
