An American League battle will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the New York Yankees travel to face the Cleveland Indians Tuesday night at 7:05 ET on STOH at Progressive Field. This will be the second of a four game series with the Yankees coming in as ‘favorites’ on the board.

The Yankees ripped into Indians starter Justin Masterson on Monday taking a 5-0 lead in the second inning and never looking back in a 5-3 win to open the series. Left fielder Brett Gardner had a big night at the plate going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Second baseman Brian Roberts also contributed with a double, an RBI, and a run scored in the win. The rookie pitcher Shane Greene got his first Major League victory going 6.0 innings allowing two runs on four hits as he mainly shut down the Indians. On Tuesday it will be New York’s ace Masahiro Tanaka getting the start as he comes in with a 12-3 record and a 2.27 ERA this season. Tanaka didn’t have his best stuff in his last outing as he gave up four runs on nine hits in a 7-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Yanks are 9-4 in their L/13 games as ‘favorites’ including the win on Monday night. Outfielder Carlos Beltran is questionable for this game with swelling in his knee that kept him out of Monday’s contest.

The Indians came out looking completely sluggish and could never recover from falling behind early in the loss. Masterson couldn’t find the plate as he walked everyone except the beer vendors in just 2.0 innings of work he let five runs cross the plate as he dropped to a 4-6 record. Designated hitter Nick Swisher tried to help out with his sixth homerun of the season, but it wasn’t enough to get the job done. Catcher Yan Gomes went 1-for-3 as he belted his 11th homer of the year as he continues to be one of the hottest hitters for Cleveland. It will be right hander Trevor Bauer taking the hill for the Indians as he tries to improve upon a 2-4 record with a soaring 4.42 ERA. Bauer was good in his last start as he allowed three runs in 5.2 innings of work earning a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Indians will need to get off to a good start against Tanaka if they want to have any chance to beat one of the best pitchers in the game.

The Yankees have been outstanding when their Japanese ace takes the mound and that’s a good sign as they try to jump out on the Indians 2-0 in this series. We can’t help but to like New York’s chances to get it done on Tuesday behind solid pitching from Tanaka and an offense that has found its stride of late. Take the Yanks to do great things in this one and continue to head into the All-Star break with some momentum.
