With just a little over a week left in the Major League Baseball season, there is still a lot left to be decided. The recent surge by the Pittsburgh Pirates has them in the second Wildcard spot in the National League. Oakland’s horrible slump has them in a tie for the AL Wildcard, but only two games ahead of the Seattle Mariners. If Oakland does end up not even making the postseason, it will certainly go down in history as a horrible collapse.

-Detroit and Kansas City meet in the biggest series of the weekend. Kansas City will host this critical three-game set. Detroit leads Kansas City by only half a game in the AL Central, and then Kansas City is tied with Oakland for the lead in the AL Wildcard. Detroit is 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Kansas City. The Tigers are 0-8 in their last 8 road games vs. a lefty though, and they’ll face lefty Jason Vargas on Friday night.

The Brewers are 75-34 in the last 109 meetings between these teams.

-Seattle will be in Houston this weekend. The Mariners are 9-4 in their last 13 road games. Seattle is 5-0 in their last 5 games in Houston. The under is 8-2-1 in the Mariners last 11 games. The under is 4-0 in the Astros last 4 home games.

-Cincinnati will be in St. Louis this week. The Reds have totally fallen apart late in the year as injury issues have mounted. Cincinnati is 4-23 in their last 27 games as a road underdog. They’ll be an underdog in all the games in this series. The Reds are 0-6 in their last 6 following an off day. St. Louis is 42-18 in their last 60 home games vs. the Reds.

-The Giants lead the NL Wildcard race. San Francisco is 15-6 in their last 21 games. The Giants are 20-6 in their last 26 as a favorite. The Padres are just 4-10 in their last 14 overall, but they are 23-9 in their last 32 home games. The over is 23-9-1 in the last 33 meetings between these two in San Diego.

-The Mets have stayed competitive down the stretch. New York is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. The Mets are just 1-4 in their last 5 in Atlanta though, and they’ll face the Braves this weekend. Atlanta is 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win.

-Oakland is 5-14 in their last 19 games, and a lot of those losses have come against inferior competition. They’ll try to right the ship against the Phillies this weekend. Philadelphia is 6-21 in their last 27 interleague road games. The A’s are 98-45 in their last 103 interleague home contests.
