Tuesday brings us an exciting day in sports. The conference finals begin in the NBA playoffs as the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors are in action in Game 1. Game 2 of the series between the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks is also tonight. A full slate of Major League Baseball betting action is on the docket with all 30 teams playing this evening. It was a quiet Monday with just one NHL playoff game and seven MLB games, so there’s a lot more excitement on tap for May 19.

Here are the top sports betting trends for May 19:

NHL: Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks (9:00 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play on Anaheim using the money line in home games with a total of 5 or less. The Ducks are 15-1 (+13.15 units) this season.

The Ducks added another win to this trend in Game 1 with a 4-1 triumph over the Blackhawks. This is a really strong trend with a significant sample size. The Ducks were a quality team at home throughout the season and they are 9-1 in the playoffs, including six wins on home ice. Frederik Andersen has been impenetrable most nights, which is why the Ducks are a -130 favorite for Game 2.

Bonus Trend: Play under in Chicago games revenging a loss versus an opponent. The under is 26-10 (+15.5 units) this season.

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Houston Astros (8:10 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play over in Oakland games played on a grass field. The over is 27-10 (+17.05 units) this season.

The first game of the series between the A’s and Astros stayed well below the total, one of the rare times that the Athletics have played a low-scoring game this season. The A’s also won a one-run game to improve to 2-13 in that area on the season. Sonny Gray will go for the A’s against Roberto Hernandez for the Astros in a game with a total lined at 8.

Bonus Trend: Play against Oakland using the money line in all games. The A’s are 14-26 (-17.1 units) this season.

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Kansas City Royals (8:10 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play on Kansas City in all games at home when the run line is +1.5 (-155) to -1.5 (+160). The Royals are 22-14 (+20.25 units) over the last two seasons.

This is a very wide range, but the Royals only have 36 games that have fallen into this category at home over the last two seasons. Tuesday’s pitching matchup is a beauty between Johnny Cueto and Yordano Ventura, with the Royals currently lined as a small favorite. The Royals run line is currently out of this range, however, at -1.5 (+170). This is a trend to keep in mind if it falls into range or in the future.

Bonus Trend: Play on Kansas City using the money line in home games when lined between +100 and -125. The Royals are 27-9 (+16.35 units) over the last two seasons.

NBA: Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors (9:00 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play on Houston using the money line in all games versus poor defensive teams allowing 99 or more points per game in the second half of the season. The Rockets are 26-9 (+14.85 units) this season.

It’s a bit disingenuous to say that the Warriors are a bad defensive team, since their tempo forced them to allow more than 99 points per game in the second half of the season, but this game will be played at a comfortable pace for the Rockets. Given how big of an underdog the Rockets are, their money line price is certainly attractive for bettors looking to make a play in this one.

Bonus Trend: Play on Houston against the spread after a win by 10 or more points. The Rockets are 24-10 (+13 units) this season.

Bonus Trend 2:  Play over in Houston road games after scoring 105 or more points. The over is 18-6 (+11.4 units) this season.

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at Detroit Tigers (7:05 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play on Detroit using the run line in home interleague games. The Tigers are 15-6 (+13.75 units) over the last three seasons.

The Tigers fell 3-2 to Milwaukee on Monday to fail to come through on this trend. Detroit has been able to turn a nice profit during interleague play at home, which is not a big surprise because of their powerful lineup and the inherent advantage for AL teams at home in interleague play.

MLB: Minnesota Twins at Pittsburgh Pirates (7:05 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play on Minnesota using the money line against a team with a losing record. The Twins are 14-6 (+10.9 units) this season.

The Twins and Pirates square off in the Steel City on Tuesday night. Ricky Nolasco is a +145 dog to Francisco Liriano and the Pirates in this one. The Twins have been one of the hottest teams in baseball of late. The Pirates are off to a very slow start. Nolasco has been steamed by the market over his last couple of starts, so you might want to jump on this one quickly.

MLB: New York Yankees at Washington Nationals (7:05 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play over in Washington games after a win. The over is 16-5 (+10.95 units) this season.

The Nationals host interleague play against the Yankees on Tuesday night after a win on Sunday that gave the Nationals a series victory over the Padres. The Nationals are now 22-17 on the season and 16 of their 21 games following a win have gone over the total. With Nate Eovaldi against Gio Gonzalez in this one, the total is sitting at 7.5.

MLB: Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox (7:10 p.m. ET)

Trend: Play against Boston in home games. The Red Sox are 41-57 (-30.85 units) over the last two seasons.

Most of the damage on this trend is from the 2014 season, but the Red Sox are just 7-9 at historic Fenway Park during the 2015 campaign. They are a favorite on Tuesday night with Wade Miley on the mound against Yovani Gallardo. The Red Sox had a much-needed off day on Monday and they’re hoping to start getting things on track.
