The Cincinnati Reds are one of those teams that will likely be a "seller" when it gets closer to the trade deadline. That is, unless they can make a move in the National League's wild card race. On Thursday night they will try to overcome their road woes, at least temporarily, not to mention the baseball odds, as they try to score a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in a game that gets underway at 7:05 PM ET at PNC Park in the Steel City. Vietbet customers can wager before the game, of course, and they can also bet during the game as well, through the magic of Live Betting Extra.

The Reds are sitting with a record of 12-23 as the visitor, and that's even after their 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh's ace pitcher, Gerrit Cole. Unless they can figure out a way to travel better, they won't improve their position in the NL Central. They are 13.5 games behind St. Louis, but obviously their best hope is going to be getting to the wild card, where they are six games out. Of course, one of those teams they are looking up at is Pittsburgh, which is 40-31 and in the first wild card position at the moment.

AJ Burnett (6-3, 2.05 ERA) gets the start for the Pirates, and he is coming off a game where he gave up fourteen hits against Washington, his most ever. To compound matters, he could sue the Bucs for non-support, as they have tallied just one run over his last three outings. Anthony DeSclafani (5-5, 3.48) will take the hill for the Reds, and he's been a nice surprise for this team since coming over from Miami in the Mat Latos deal.

In the baseball odds posted on this game by the folks at Vietbet, the Pirates are the favorites

Pittsburgh Pirates (Burnett) -156
Cincinnati Reds (DeSclafani) +146

Over 7.5 runs -115
Under 7.5 runs -105

If the Reds are looking to improve that road record, they are catching Pittsburgh at the right time, because the Pirates have lost four of their last five games, and after an eight-game stretch where the starters had a sizzling 0.90 ERA, the staff as a whole has given up sixty base hits in the last five games.

But Burnett, it can be argued, is as good a pitcher in his home park as anyone in the big leagues. At PNC Park he has a 1.27 ERA, and only Scott Kazmir has that low a figure at home. As bad as Cincinnati has been on the road, DeSclafani has done his best work there, with a .189 opponents' batting average powering his 2.48 ERA. Vietbet patrons might be interested to know that these hurlers have been especially good at keeping it in the ballpark under the present conditions, as Burnett has surrendered just one home run in 43 innings at PNC, while DeSclafani has yielded just one round-tripper in 45-1/3 innings as the visitor.

These teams have trended "under" of late, and in a big way. Before yesterday's push, Cincinnati had played seven unders in their previous nine games (odd, since they have now tallied five runs or more in six of their last seven). And Pittsburgh had played 12 of its last 15 under the total, as they have scored more than three runs only once in their last eight contests.
