With one week of baseball left until the All-Star Break, it can be a very tough time to bet on baseball. Adam Burke, host of our tremendously popular MLB betting podcast, The Bettor’s Box, is there to help you through it. This twice-a-week show is filled with baseball betting insight and analysis, both from observations and from a statistical standpoint. Every show is packed with the betting tips you need to succeed and to be one step ahead of the sportsbooks.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

Don’t forget to tune into the two recordings of the College Football Podcast this week. Adam Burke will be joined by expert handicapper Kyle Hunter to talk Big 12, Pac-12, ACC, and other notable teams from non-power five conferences this week. Two editions of the show, with coaching thoughts and general CFB discussion, and the SEC and Big Ten win totals, have already been published.

To kick off this show, Adam went Beyond the Box Score on two series that had interesting results over the weekend. The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their series against the New York Mets as the Mets’ youngsters all threw the ball well. What does this series tell us about the Dodgers, who fell to 9-21 against teams .500 or better on the season? How about the Mets? Also, during this segment, Adam talked about Boston’s series win over the Houston Astros and how the Red Sox are not done yet.

Going Down The Lines is an important segment on this show because you will be ready to get ahead of the market on line moves if you pay attention to what has been happening. Adam has recapped the line moves all season long and some really stood out this week. If you’ll recall, Adam spent a good portion of one of his shows earlier this season on the Circadian Rhythm. That concept is a factor in Monday’s podcast free pick.

Your esteemed host has gone on record as saying that he believes that defense is not accurately factored into lines or totals. After doing some research into totals and defensive runs saved in the past, he updated the numbers for the top five and bottom five teams in DRS on the season. Were there any important trends to take away from this season’s numbers?

As always, Adam closed the show by looking at the week ahead and seeing what series and matchups hold the most importance or intrigue. The series between the Indians and Astros has a lot of important implications for both teams and so does the series between the Cardinals and Cubs. All of the AL East teams merit watching this week as they all jockey for position in the crowded division standings.
