The Minnesota Twins are ahead of the Detroit Tigers in the standings in the American League Central, but they just don't seem to get as much respect. Obviously it is going to take more than respect to get past the major hurdle, in the person of David Price, who is one of the hottest pitchers in the major leagues, as the Twins tangle with the Detroit Tigers in baseball betting action that begins at 8:10 PM ET at Target Field. And guess what? BetAnySports customers get a big treat, as even after the opening pitch, they can place wagers on the side, total and various props through the facilities of Live Betting Extra.

Detroit is currently 43-41, and the Tigers are seven games behind the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central. They are also 2.5 games behind in the race for the second wild-card spot. That spot just so happens to be held by the Twins, who are 46-39 (4.5 games behind Kansas City).

Price has an 8-2 record with a 2.54 ERA, and he has not lost in his last six starts. He has won four straight decisions, and also three straight over Minnesota. He will also be one of the American League pitchers in the All-Star Game, making his fifth trip to the Midsummer Classic.

His opposite number is Mike Pelfrey, who is 5-5 with a 3.94 ERA, and has been inconsistent, as you could probably guess. His last three games at home have been excellent, but he was hit hard in his last two starts, which took place on the road.

In the baseball betting lines that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Price is rated the favorite as the visitor:

Detroit Tigers (Price) -142
Minnesota Twins (Pelfrey) +132

Under 8 runs -115
Over 8 runs -105

In none of his last three road starts has Pelfrey gotten out of the fourth inning. The numbers are ugly – in 9 2/3 innings, he has allowed 19 earned runs and 27 hits. That kind of flips a bit when you look at what he's done at home of late. In his three starts in June at Target Field, Pelfrey has surrendered just four earned runs in 22 2/3 innings, even though he is just 1-1 with one no-decision in those outings.

Interestingly enough, even though Minnesota is ahead of Detroit in the division, BetAnySports as the Tigers priced at +900 to win the American League pennant, while Minnesota is one of the long shots at +2900. If you look at the Twins, they currently have the best home record in the league, at 28-15, but they will face a Detroit squad that has its hitting shoes on lately, as they have batted .328 in the last dozen games.

Price was very strong in his last outing, as he struck out seven Toronto Blue Jays in seven innings and allowed only one run. Over his last six starts he is 4-0 with two no-decisions, and he has gone the full nine innings twice during that stretch. His ERA in his last three starts against Minnesota, two of which have been this season, is 1.21. And on an extended basis, his last eight appearances against Minnesota have yielded a 2.31 earned run average. His ratio of hits to runs allowed is 2.75, which actually compares favorably with his 2.3 figure over the last two years.
