With just four days left until the All-Star Break, Adam Burke took to the airwaves for the latest edition of The Bettor’s Box. The Bettor’s Box is our phenomenal MLB betting podcast that goes deeper into the statistics of baseball than any other show. Adam is passionate about baseball, sabermetrics, and handicapping and all of that comes through on this twice-a-week show. He had plenty of good thoughts and insight on this Thursday edition and you definitely want to make this podcast part of your regular handicapping routine.
Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.
Don’t forget to tune into the College Football Podcast this week. Adam Burke will be joined by expert handicapper Kyle Hunter to talk ACC and other notable teams from non-power five conferences this week. Three editions of the show, with coaching thoughts and general CFB discussion, the SEC and Big Ten win totals, and the Pac-12 and Big 12 win totals have already been published. The final show will be recorded on Friday of this week.
To kick off the show, Adam went Beyond the Box Score with a look at the series between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins, and San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates. These series really highlighted some of the problems for some of these teams and also shed some light on the directions that the Mariners and Padres need to take. Also during this segment, Adam discussed the impact of the Alex Gordon injury on the Kansas City Royals.
As always, Adam went “Down the Lines” to talk about line moves that happened throughout the week. This segment is always important because it can shed some light on some teams and pitchers and the perception that they have in the betting market. Kyle Gibson was talked about a lot on this show. Regular listeners will remember that Adam had a strong stance on him earlier in the season. He took a strong stance on this show as well, but it may not be the one that you think.
With a pick for Thursday night and some words of caution about the weekend, Adam wrapped up another great show. Make sure to tune in to Monday’s extended look at the second half, with just one show next week.
Remember to follow Adam on Twitter (@SkatingTripods) and also be sure that you follow @BangTheBook on Twitter. The top comments, questions, and suggestions will be mentioned on the show and every Tweet sent to either handle will get a response.
