The Toronto Blue Jays fully intend to make this a sizzling race in the American League East this season, and towrad that objective they will be going after their third straight victory on Wednesday as they take the field against the Oakland Athletics in a 10:05 PM ET start at the Coliseum. Customers at Vietbet will be able to place wagers after the game begins, as they challenge the baseball odds through the facilities of Live Betting Extra.

In last night's action, Mark Buehrle was able to get the job done against the Athletics, who were 15 off a 15-run outburst against Minnesota. He gave up just one run in seven innings and let the bullpen do the rest, as the Blue Jays beat up Kendall Graveman and chased him after 5 1/3 innings, by which point the game was essentially over. The final was 7-1, and it moved Toronto into second place in the American League East. They have actually moved up two spots in the last three days, but they are still 4.5 games behind the New York Yankees.

Toronto's road record and Oakland's home record are now exactly the same, at 20-28. Making the start for the Blue Jays on Wednesday is Felix Doubront, who is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA, and has a rough recent history against the Athletics. Sonny Gray, who made the American League All-Star staff, will be trying to rebound from a rough experience last time out as he takes the hill for Oakland.

In the baseball odds that have been posted on this game by the folks at Vietbet, Oakland is the favorite at home:

Oakland Athletics (Gray) -158
Toronto Blue Jays (Doubront) +148

Over 7 runs -115
Under 7 runs -105

Doubront, the former Red Sox hurler, was doing well enough at the Triple-A level to earn a promotion to the Blue Jays. He had a 2.44 ERA at Buffalo and gave up slightly less than eight hits per nine innings. His first start back in the bigs was more than solid, as he gave up just one run in 6 2/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox on July 7. He had a very bizarre outing the last time he took the mound, as he allowed six runs in the first inning (five of them earned), but was able to complete five innings and actually came away from the game with a no-decision, as Toronto eventually lost by an 11-10 count to the Kansas City Royals.

Vietbet customers figure they know enough about Gray that his last start, five days ago against Minnesota, was the exception rather than the rule. He gave up five runs in six innings before leaving the contest, and Oakland could not even get on the board in the 5-0 loss. That came just five days after a brilliant two-hit shutout at Cleveland. Gray has gone at least six innings in each of his last nine starts, although admittedly not all of them have been sensational. His ERA is the highest it has been all season long, but that's not really saying much, since the figure is currently at 2.29.

Gray seems to be more at home when he is on the road, where he has compiled a 7-1 record with a 1.84 ERA, but at the Coliseum he has a 0.89 WHIP ratio, holding opposing hitters to a .189 average. In his last four appearances against Oakland, Doubront has yielded 16 earned runs in 18 1/3 innings, but he has not faced the Athletics since June 2014.
