To say that this week in Major League Baseball is crazy is one of the understatements of the year. Fortunately, Adam Burke is actively watching all of the baseball news, both from a betting standpoint and with the Trade Deadline, to cover all of it for you on The Bettor’s Box. Our MLB betting podcast has helped listeners of all skill levels and bankrolls improve as a baseball handicapper this season and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the season.
Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.
Before diving into the show, Adam had an exciting announcement that the Gridiron Gambling Report will return next week to get bettors ready for the NFL Preseason and, subsequently, the NFL Regular Season. Be sure to keep an eye out for that early in the week.
Now, what has happened in Major League Baseball this week? Well, just about everything. Looking “Beyond the Box Score” first, at the results of the early part of the week, Adam had some important thoughts on the series between the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners, and Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. With a breakdown of what happened and what to look for in the future, this is one of the top segments on a regular basis.
The betting market has been going haywire this week and some big favorites have lost. The trade deadline always causes a stir because people read a lot into the psyches of sellers and buyers and also over-evaluate the mindsets of pitchers that are on the trade market. It’s been a week full of line moves that have some predictive value for future betting lines and betting patterns. On every episode, Adam takes time to discuss these and he did so on this show as well.
Trade deadline analysis on the Troy Tulowitzki deal, the ill-fated Mets/Brewers deal that has fallen apart, thoughts on the three-team trade between the Marlins/Braves/Dodgers, and then some final thoughts on the Cole Hamels to Texas deal wrapped up the show and tied a nice bow on it. Plenty more will happen between now and Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET and Adam will recap all of that on Monday’s edition of The Bettor’s Box.
Remember to follow Adam on Twitter (@SkatingTripods) and also be sure that you follow @BangTheBook on Twitter. The top comments, questions, and suggestions will be mentioned on the show and every Tweet sent to either handle will get a response.
