Armed with a brand new microphone, Adam Burke took listeners into The Bettor’s Box for the best baseball betting information anywhere to kick off another great week here at BangTheBook. There are just two weeks left to go in the Major League Baseball regular season, so it’s definitely crunch time for the teams that are still fighting for a spot in the postseason. Those teams, like the Houston Astros, New York Yankees, and Minnesota Twins were mentioned on this show, along with other teams of interest to you.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

The Bettor’s Box is all about baseball, but we have all kinds of phenomenal podcast content. Adam is also on The College Football Podcast with Kyle Hunter, recorded every Monday, the Gridiron Gambling Report with Cole Ryan, recorded every Tuesday, and Football Fridays with Joe D’Amico. As you will see at the bottom of this write-up, there are several places to find our podcasts.

It was an interesting weekend on the diamond. The Houston Astros got back to their winning ways on Saturday and Sunday to take their series against the Oakland Athletics. That was big and Adam spent a few good minutes discussing that series and some of the implications for both teams. Also during his “Beyond the Box Score” segment, he talked about the series between the New York Yankees and New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, and so much more.

Down the Lines is one of the most important segments of any of our betting podcasts here at BangTheBook. The MLB betting market is a lot tougher than others because of the money line nature of the sport. Line moves happen every day and some can really change the value of a game. The biggest line moves and some of the most surprising lines of the week were discussed and analyzed in this segment. Adam also included a pick for Monday night’s card.

Alternative ways of betting games is a good idea this time of the year because of expanded rosters. What do expanded rosters have to do with the betting market? That was a point of emphasis towards the end of the show before Adam looked ahead at the important series that will be played early in the week. These three American League series have major playoff implications and all of them have a lot of storylines worth pondering.
