The Wild Card round is over and the Division Series begin on Thursday. Thursday also meant another edition of The Bettor’s Box, BangTheBook’s MLB betting podcast hosted by Adam Burke. The show ran a little bit longer today as Adam talked about all four Division Series matchups and also previewed the AL East for the offseason. This was a show full of the same great information that you have come to expect from all of our podcast content.
Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.
We have an app now for your Apple devices. Please check out and download the BangTheBook app, which features a mock sportsbook, live odds, access to our articles, and more. An Android app is coming very soon.
The Bettor’s Box is all about baseball, but we have all kinds of phenomenal podcast content. Adam is also on The College Football Podcast with Kyle Hunter, recorded every Monday, the Gridiron Gambling Report with Cole Ryan, recorded every Tuesday, and Football Fridays with Joe D’Amico. As you will see at the bottom of this write-up, there are several places to find our podcasts.
Adam opened up the show with a look back at the two Wild Card games as the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs both advanced with road shutout victories. What stood out about these two games? Should there be any changes to the Wild Card round format?
Both ALDS series begin on Thursday as the Texas Rangers battle the Toronto Blue Jays and the Houston Astros take on the Kansas City Royals. Adam broke down each series in detail with some eye-opening statistics and some guesses on how the series rotations will shake out. There’s a lot to consider in all of these playoff matchups and that’s why Adam was happy to do the work for you.
In the Senior Circuit, the St. Louis Cardinals will host the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers will host the New York Mets beginning on Friday. The Cardinals certainly have a lot of issues right now with injuries and some starting pitching concerns. The Cubs won’t be able to use Jake Arrieta until either Game 3 or Game 4. Can they stay above water without him? Pitching is also the story of the series between the Dodgers and Mets, but for different reasons. With picks on each series and plenty of valuable insight, this show, once again, proved why it is the best MLB podcast in the industry.
Finally, Adam took a look at the five teams in the AL East with a breakdown of their financial and contract situations entering the offseason. Some of them face some very difficult decisions. Take a listen and find out what you should be looking for this fall and winter.
