The Bettor’s Box is winding down for the season. Adam Burke has had a very successful year during the first season of this show and listeners have been able to profit and learn from his observations and thoughts. The Kansas City Royals hold a 2-0 lead in the World Series over the New York Mets and that was part of today’s show, along with a look at some front office and managerial moves that will impact the offseason and beyond. It was another great show, but you already know that, because you wouldn’t expect anything less.
Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. An extra inning thriller and a rout have been the two outcomes of the World Series thus far. The Royals hold a 2-0 lead by getting clutch hits with the help of their contact-based approach. All of the keys to the series that Adam mentioned on Sunday’s show have come to fruition, but most of them have gone in Kansas City’s favor. What has worked so well for Kansas City in the first two games? What hasn’t worked for the Mets? Those questions were answered.
Looking ahead to Games 3 and 4, Adam dug deep to see what could be beneficial for the Mets as they try to get back into the series. Noah Syndergaard takes the mound for Game 3 against Yordano Ventura. Which one of these guys has the edge? With picks for the next two games and analysis of both pitching matchups, bettors are armed with the information that they need for these big games.
Two bits of breaking news right before the show added some fuel to the end of the episode. Alex Anthopoulos and Mark Shapiro apparently didn’t see eye to eye and Shapiro will now have to hire a new GM for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Miami Marlins hired Don Mattingly as the new manager. The Washington Nationals hired Bud Black. The Arizona Diamondbacks added pitching coach Mike Butcher. All of these moves are going to have an impact on next season and beyond and Adam spent time on his thoughts.
