It may not be March yet but college basketball has officially stolen the sports betting spotlight. The NBA is in All Star break mode and will finish up this weekend before taking off seven days during the intermission. Then even when they resume they will be all about tanking or waiting to see how long it takes the Golden State Warriors to win the championship. Therefore the focus is completely on college basketball. The end of the year is here and there are only a few weeks left before the conference tournaments begin. Then selection Sunday will give way to March Madness and the NCAA Tournament. That is why now is the time to bet on basketball and get ready to bet big when the brackets are set and the real madness begins.

Let’s Go Bowling

If you want to know the best way to bet on basketball and win big during March, it is really simple. You have to know the smaller market teams that can break your brackets during the tournament. On Friday night Bowling Green and Buffalo face off in a Mid-American conference showdown. The Buffalo Bulls are a good team and they have just one loss at home this season, but they have been a tough team to bet on. The Bulls are 0-4-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games overall and they are 0-4-2 ATS in their last 6 vs. Mid-American. That could open the door for a in by Bowling Green who are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning straight up record. Whichever one of these teams makes the NCAA Tournament could be worth watching in March.

Get Over It

One mistake that many handicappers make is that they just focus on ATS records and not the over / under. Totals in college basketball games can be just as profitable if you know which teams to watch. NC Wilmington is one of the worst defensive teams in country. In fact only seven more teams in the entire country are worse on defense. Because of this ugly number the over has cashed in for 13 of the 22 games that they have played this season. However if you still want to focus on the numbers against the spread, then it’s important to know that NC Wilmington is 8-14 ATS this season.

Flying High

Another one of the lesser known college basketball conferences that is worth watching is the Atlantic 10. They have some quality basketball teams that are playing good basketball and could finish the season on a good run, even if they don’t make the tournament. Right now a team that is scoring points by the boat load is the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers have seen their total go over the posted number in five straight games and eight of the last ten games. This has been a constant for the Flyers who have had the over hit in 15 of the 25 games that they have played this season. They go up against Fordham this weekend and the last time that these teams met the game went well over the total. The Flyers are flying high right now and it is all because of their offense.
