After a disappointing exit from the Sun Belt Tournament as the prohibitive favorite, Scott Cross and the UT-Arlington Mavericks have accepted their invitation to the NIT and will take on Dave Rose and his BYU Cougars, in Provo. BYU was absolutely dismantled by Saint Mary’s in the West Coast Conference tourney, 81-50, crushing their NCAA Tournament dreams, but with Gonzaga and St. Mary’s in conference there really never was much hope of a birth into the Big Dance.
