Week nine had plenty of great football but the talk of the week was the first win of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were celebrating the first time they made the playoffs and added Leroy Selmon to the ring of honor on Sunday. They donned the orange uniforms from 1979 and took the field against the Green Bay Packers. What resulted after that was unheard of. As ten point dogs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Packers in come from behind convincing fashion. This may be the only win of the season for this team, but it was a good one.
The two undefeated teams in the NFL, the Colts and the Saints had challenges and had to have last minute comebacks to win. The Colts looked like they had the came against the Texans safely in hand but had to drive and score to take the lead. The Texans had a shot to tie it up with seconds to go but missed the game tying field goal. In New Orleans the Saints also had to mount a second half comeback against the crafty Panthers to keep on the undefeated path. After taking the lead Carolina self-destructed and the Saints kept marching on. The Saints have the easiest schedule left in the NFL but the Colts will have a tough game this week as they face off against the New England Patriots.
When it came to individual performances there were several big names that made headlines with great performances. The one that stood out most to me was the play of Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner. After a horrible performance at home Warner went to Windy City to play the Bears. He managed to throw 5 touchdowns on the way to a rout of the Bears. The offense seemed to move at will and Warner put up some solid numbers for week nine. On the ground it was Michael Turner burning it up for the Falcons gaining 166 yards and scoring twice for the Falcons as they stomped the Redskins 31-17.
