Week 8 in the NFL had plenty of surprises, upsets, blowouts and hype and it lived up to it. The question on everyone’s mind was would the Colts and the Patriots be able to win and set up the first undefeated meeting between teams that are 7-0 or better and both teams lived up to their end of the deal with blowout wins. The Colts hammered the Panthers and the Patriots ran over the Redskins and more talk of the Pats running up the score came to the surface. The Saints came back from the dead to win their third straight game and they are now just one game out of first while the jets showed they are one of the worst teams in the league and benched Pennington. Now let’s go between the lines for more fascinating numbers.

Beyond the line:
Dog players ended up in the doghouse with no money if they took a shot on every dog this week. There were some dog winners in Buffalo, Detroit, Green Bay and Jacksonville, but overall the favorites were the smart money this week and the games were not even close. The Colts, Patriots and Chargers were all big numbered favorites and every one of those teams came through in a big way. The Colts were down 7-0 after the Panthers first drive and then the Colts never looked back shutting them out for the rest of the game. The Chargers (35-3 at the half) and the Patriots (24-0 at the half) ran away and left their opponents scratching their heads and frustrated. Depending on what lines that a bettor took they would have posted an 8-4 record on Sunday.
Big Dog of the week:
Buffalo, Jacksonville, Detroit and Green Bay lead the way in underdogs that won outright this week. Favre led the way when it came to fantastic finishes as he fired a bomb on Monday Night Football to win in over time and as great as the effort was he was still not named our big dog of the week. That honor goes to the Detroit lions. The Lions went into a menacing soldier field and took down the Bears showing the league they can win on the road and virtually ending the playoffs hopes of the Bears. They still have an outside shot but with the way the Packers and the Lions playing awesome football the Bears have to win every game to make a run. The lions are halfway to the prediction of ten wins on the season as predicted in the preseason. The schedule down the road will get tougher for the Lions but for now they are the Big Dog of the week.

Fantasy Impact Player of the Week:
It was a relatively quiet week as far as fantasy impact players go. It’s not to say we did not have big numbers put up by players it was just done with a quiet arrogance that almost went unnoticed. Drew Brees threw for over 300 yards in the win against the niners and he was not alone. Farve, Mcnabb, and Brady fired the pigskin for over 300 yards in the win, while Bulger threw for over 300 yards in a loss to the Browns. In rushing it was LenDale White rushing for over 130 yards against the Raiders and Brandon Jacobs topped the 130 mark in London. In receiving the big man was Reggie Wayne has he got the ball for 168 yards in torching the Panthers secondary. It was not just one player that made a great impact this week, but a slew of different players.

Must see Game for Week 9:
This is the easiest week to pick the must see game as it is the meeting between the undefeated New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts. This is going to be hyped to the maximum. This game provides us with the defending Super Bowl champions, a rivalry with two teams that have plenty of history in the series and two of the best quarterbacks to ever play the I n the league that are at the top of the game. This game will mean everything to both teams and the winner will be the favorite to win the AFC and the Super bowl. The patriots have opened up as a 4.5 point favorite and it has increased to 5.5 at most sportsbooks.
