NFL Rewind: Week 4

This week in the NFL key players were lost to injury and records were broken in a week full of exciting hard hitting action. Tampa Bay Buccaneers have surprised a few teams this year and are doing surprisingly well but don’t be to sure if it will last. This week the lost two key players to season ending injuries. Running back Cadillac Williams and OT Luke Petitgout are out for the season and that could lead to a tough time for an offense that has struggled in the past. Latest rumor is that the Buccaneers are talking to Corey Dillon to fill the void at running back.

Meanwhile in Minnesota Brett Favre broke the record for most touchdown passes in the NFL passing Dan Marino on the all time list. The Packers then went on to survive the game and go to 4-0 on the season. This was just the start of a great week in the National Football League.
Beyond the line: As mentioned in the Super seven for this week the home dogs were the way to go. Detroit scored a record 34 points in the 4th quarter to rally and win outright against the Bears. They were not the only home dog to surprise and cash in on the week. The Browns led the Ravens wire to wire, the Bills squeaked out a win over the Jets and the Falcons showed the world they do not need Matt Schaub and trounced the Texans as a small home underdog.

Big Dog of the week: The big dog of the weekend goes to the Arizona Cardinals. At halftime it looked bleak for the birds as they were down 7-0 and the offense was stagnant and not doing anything against the tough Steeler defense. Leinart was pulled in favor of Kurt Warner for the second game in a row and it turned out to be the reason Arizona got the win. Warner went 14 of 21 and led the Cardinals to 14 points in the fourth to get the biggest upset win of the weekend.

Fantasy Impact Player of the Week: This spot is usually reserved for a player that had a great game with some super numbers. With my apologies to Brett Favre and Randy Moss this week the honor goes to more than one player and in fact it goes to an entire defense. The defense of the New York Giants stole the shows on NBC’s Sunday Night football. Osi Umenyiora led the way and manhandled Mcnabb and the offensive line as he recorded a record six sacks in the game. That combined with six other sacks to include a record breaking sack by Michael Strahan, led to a franchise record 12 sacks by the New York Giant defense. If that was not enough they even scored a touchdown on their way to a big win for the big blue.

Must see Game for Week 5: There are several games with great subplots and superb match ups for week five. San Diego tries to salvage their season with a trip to Denver and Pittsburgh will play host to Seattle but the biggest game of the night is the late one. The Bears renew the oldest rivalry in the NFL when they travel to Green bay to take on Brett Favre and the undefeated Packers.
