This week ended with perhaps one of the better games of the week. The Dolphins dominated the time of possession and the line of scrimmage but it was Peyton Manning and the Colts that drove down the field near the end of the game to steal a victory on the road. These are the type of games that show a team’s merit and will to win. Peyton will go down as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game and it was moments like this that will get him to the Hall of Fame.
Peyton Manning was not the only players to have a good game. Week two seemed like the week of the running back. In Tennessee Chris Johnson scored three times, rushed for over 200 yards and was a human highlight film. The only problem is the Titans lost the game. While on the west coast Frank Gore put on a show for the 49er fans. He also posted over 200 yards and broke big runs making the Seattle defense look pitiful. Unlike Johnson he was able to lead his team to victory and a 2-0 record on the year. This was not an upset but there were plenty around the league.
The biggest games of the weekend turned out to be upsets. The New York Jets spouted off all week on how badly they were going to beat the Patriots but not too many people outside of New York thought they would actually do it. The defense of the Jets confused Tom Brady and the Patriots offense sputtered and stalled in the red zone on more than one occasion. Mark Sanchez led the offense and was responsible for one of the biggest upsets of the week. The Jets were not the only team to pull off a big upset.
The New York football Giants went into the new Cowboys Stadium and stunned a crowd of over 100,000 fans and sent the Cowboys home with an opening loss. Tony Romo looked horrible and Eli Manning looked like his brother with a fourth quarter comeback and a victory over a division rival. The Giants still have questions on defense but looked like one of the best in the league with this upset.
