Every week this article will cover the week that went by in the NFL and take a look at some of the bright spots and not so bright spots in the world of football. It will cover the NFL from a sports angle, a sports betting angle and even a fantasy angle to give you everything you need in the NFL. Without further adieu here is your NFL rewind for week one.

Beyond the line:

The under was the big winner this week going 11-5 proving that the theory that it takes a bit for offenses to catch up may be true. On the other side of the coin it was the favorites that won out going 9-6-1 on the week. It is interesting to see that the home teams overall fared well going 9-6 ATS and when they were favored they went 7-4 ATS. If you are a underdog bettor it was a tough week all around and that can also be said for those that like to go over the number. If you are a sports bettor that uses consensus numbers to place a wager you had a tough time if you tried to fade the public. Closing consensus backs this up as four of the five most popular home favorites covered the number with the most popular (Seattle at 79%) leading the way. Even more incredible to note the highest road favorite at 76% easily won as the Steelers crushed the Browns.

Big Dog of the week:
Plenty of underdogs got the straight up win in this week of football but none may have been as impressive as the Tennessee Titans. The line in many places closed as high as eight or nine when the Titans traveled to Jacksonville. The Titans not only covered the number but won outright as big underdogs paying some backers as high as +330 on the money line.

Fantasy Impact Player of the Week:
This was a tight race between two players. Randy Moss had a huge game for fantasy players as he caught for over 180 yards and a TD against the jets but he will finish second with the honor of fantasy impact player of the week. This will go to running back Chris Brown of the Tennessee Titans. Brown rushed for 175 yards against a tough front of the jaguars and has fantasy owners rushing to pick him up.

Must see Game for Week 2:
The Chargers face the Patriots in a highly anticipated rematch from the playoffs last year. The Patriots stomped and jumped on the field after the win prompting Tomlinson to chastise the Patriots as a team and more importantly the coach. He since has retracted those statements after playing in the pro-bowl with the Patriots coach but you know revenge will be on the chargers mind this week.
