A horse that has never won a major race, Dave in Dixie is going to be looking to pull off a huge upset at Belmont Racetrack on Saturday. However, he certainly has the man on his back that can be the difference maker, as jockey Calvin Borel has been known to turn horses that you have never heard of before into champions.

This will be Borel's first ever ride above Dave in Dixie, who will have his third different jockey aboard him in as many races.

The argument could be made that this colt is almost too fresh for the Belmont. Dave in Dixie hasn't been tested since April 3rd at the Illinois Derby, a race that he outclassed in by a ton of fellow Triple Crown contenders. In fact, Dave in Dixie has only run one really successful race in his career aside from his maiden, finishing second at the Robert B. Lewis behind Caracortado.

There isn't much in the way of impressive features in Dave in Dixie's bloodlines, as a sire of Dixie Union and a dam of Risk just don't stack up to some of the other pedigrees in this field. Distance has already proven to be an issue, as he finished 16 lengths off of the pace at the Illinois Derby, the longest race of his career.

Dave in Dixie just isn't going to be worth your time at the mutuels. Yes, he'll get some people who place bets on his just because of Calvin Borel who are hoping to get a huge payoff, but not only are the payoffs just not there in this race, but this is a horse that has no business running in a Triple Crown race. Don't be shocked to see Dave in Dixie finish well off of the pace once again at Belmont on Saturday.
