Atlantic 10 Basketball 2009-2010 Preview: The battle for #1 in the A10 could get interesting this year. It won’t be easy for anybody to claim the top-spot with the top half of the division returning a lot of talent. Dayton has their eye on the prize with 11 of their top scorers returning. Xavier, still a prime contender, welcomes a new Coach and loses some top scorers. They’ll need to adjust quickly if they hope to claim another title.
Big 12 Basketball 2009-2010 Preview: When discussing the best college basketball conferences, the Big 12 rarely comes up. The truth is, over the past 7 seasons, The Big 12 has compiled the best winning percentage in the NCAA. The only conference that has had more teams reach the Sweet 16 in the past 8 years is the Big East. It’s a tough conference to win in. With the depth, coaching, and experience that they own this year, this conference might be one of the best Big 12 conferences we’ve ever seen.
Big East 2009-2010 Preview: It’s hard to Imagine the Big East being able to follow up with a season as exciting as last year’s. The Big East had 3 teams earn number 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament, five in the Sweet 16, three in the Elite 8, and 2 in the Final Four. The Big East was talented and experienced. With a young league, there won’t be as much experience on the courts this year, but there will certainly be talent. Five schools in the Big East have top 25 recruiting classes.
Big Ten Basketball 2009-2010 Preview: The Big Ten proved itself to be one of the strongest conferences last year with 7 out of 11 teams earning NCAA Tournament bids. The Big Ten should be even tougher this year with many of the best players deciding to stick around for another year. With a conference as talented and deep as the Big Ten, nobody will be overlooked.
Conference USA 2009 - 2010 Preview - How vulnerable is Memphis this year? Everybody in Conference USA hopes to take full advantage of the Tigers’ situation and end their dominance; for now at least. Memphis’ Coach John Calipari left for the University of Kentucky.
Mac Basketball Preview 2009 -2010 - At this point, it’s looking like Siena has everything it will take to remain dominant in the MAAC. Their 2009-2010 team might be even stronger than the one we saw last year. Another conference title run won’t be easy with talented teams like Niagara, Rider, and Fairfield just as hungry for the number one MAAC spot.
Missouri Valley Conference Preview - The Missouri Valley Conference had only one team make it to the NCAA tournament in both the 2008-2009 and 2007-2008 seasons. Prior to that, they had multiple bids over a stretch nearly a decade long. The Missouri Valley could be on the upswing this season. Missouri Valley teams return 35 starters, 18 of 30 top scorers, and half of their rebounders. Expect both the up-and-coming and the “top dogs” to struggle, as most teams in the conference have one thing in common: They’re all getting better.
Mountain West Conference Preview - In his second year as coach, Utah’s Jim Boylen has had a great impact on the Mountain West Conference. He claimed a share of the regular season title and won the MWC Tournament. With Boylen in charge, the Utes will continue to finish in the top half of the conference, rather than the usual bottom half. It will be fun conference play this year with 5+ of the 9 Mountain West teams talented enough to take the conference.
