The 2021-22 CBB regular season goes on Wednesday, March 2, with the Mountain West Conference battle from Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, so we have prepared the best Wyoming vs. UNLV betting pick along with the latest odds update on Bookmaker Sportsbook.

The Cowboys square off against the Rebels for the first time this term. Wyoming is listed as a small 2-point road underdog, while the totals sit at 139.0 points.

The Cowboys’ shaky form continues

The Wyoming Cowboys (23-6; 16-10-2 ATS) haven’t been at their best over the last couple of weeks. Jeff Linder’s boys have gone 2-3 straight up and ATS in their previous five games overall. They are coming off a 73-66 home loss to San Diego State this past Monday, as Wyoming fell to 12-4 in the conference play.

The Cowboys made only 39.7% of their field goals against the Aztecs, who went 12-for-22 from beyond the arc. Wyoming shot 10-for-27 from downtown, while senior guard Hunter Maldonado led the way with a triple-double of 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Maldonado is now averaging 18.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 6.3 assists on the season. The Cowboys score 112.8 points per 100 possessions (29th in the nation) and yield 99.3 in a return (90th). They are No. 45 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 53 in the KenPom rankings.

The Rebels just stopped their three-game win streak

The UNLV Rebels fell to 17-12 straight up and 13-15 ATS on the season following an 86-76 defeat to the Boise State Broncos this past Saturday. They put an end to a three-game winning streak, failing to cover for the first time in six games.

Senior guard Bryce Hamilton continues to lead the way for the Rebels. He dropped 25 points on the Broncos, surpassing a 20-point mark for the fifth time in the last seven outings. Hamilton is averaging 21.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, while junior guard Donovan Williams is adding 13.1 points and 3.2 boards a night.

The Rebels tally 110.7 points per 100 possessions (63rd in the country) and surrender 100.8 points in a return (120th). They sit at the fifth spot of the MWC standings with a 9-7 record, three games off the third-seeded Wyoming Cowboys. UNLV is No. 92 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 84 in the KenPom rankings.

Trends:

Wyoming:

  • 2-5 ATS in the last seven games against UNLV

UNLV:

  • 5-1 ATS in the last six games overall

Wyoming vs. UNLV Pick

It’s hard to separate these two teams at the moment. On paper, Wyoming looks like a better team than UNLV, but the Cowboys have struggled a bit lately, while the Rebels have played very well, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Furthermore, both Wyoming and UNLV almost exclusively lean on a couple of guys when it comes to scoring, so their Wednesday’s clash could easily go either way.

I lean the Rebels because of their home-court advantage. Also, the Rebels have held their opponents below a 60-point mark in three straight outings before that 86-76 loss to Boise State. In those three games, UNLV has outlasted Fresno State 60-57, Colorado State 72-51, and Nevada 62-54.

Pick: Take UNLV -2.0 at -110

The Total:

Both Wyoming and UNLV prefer to play at a slow pace, so I’m taking the under on the totals. While the Rebels average 66.6 possessions per 40 minutes (232nd in the country), the Cowboys register 66.4 (251st).

The Cowboys’ last eight games on the road have gone under the total. On the other side, the under is 4-2 in the Rebels’ last six games overall and 4-1 in their previous five showings on the home court. Also, the under is 4-2 in the last six meetings between Wyoming and UNLV.

Pick: Go under 139.0 points at -110
