Spread : NOR +0.0
Total : 2.25 Goals
The National Team of the Czech Republic has been going through some changes in its roster, as there are a bunch of players who have retired, and have been replaced with the younger talents. They will now try to move higher in the standings when they will be hosted by Norway on Saturday, June 10th. Norway have appeared very weak so far, having lost 4 of their 5 matches already.
Norway (1-4-0) have been awful in one more qualifying stage, as they have only won one of their 5 matches so far, having lost the other four. They started off with a 3-0 natural loss at home against Germany, before a 0-1 loss to Azerbaijan on the road. However, they did bounce back with a 1-4 home win against san Marino, but conceding against one of the weakest teams in the world is not a good sign. After their brightest spot so far in the qualifiers they succumbed to old habits, when they recorded back to back losses on the road against the Czech Republic (1-2) and Northern Ireland (0-2). They are now sitting at the penultimate spot of Group C with just 3 points so far, and they have no valid chances of chasing the 2nd spot, as they are already 7 points behind Northern Ireland, and there are also two teams sitting in-between.
On the other hand, the Czech Republic (2-1-2) have been excellent so far in the World Cup Qualifiers, as they have only lost to group leaders Germany so far, and they are sitting at the 3rd spot. They started off with a goal-less draw at home against Northern Ireland, before a tough 0-3 loss to Germany on the road. Moreover, they were held to a goal-less draw at home against Azerbaijan, before finally recording their first win against Norway by 1-2 at home. In their most recent qualifier they destroyed San Marino by 6-0 on the road, as they are now sitting at the 3rd spot of Group C with 8 points. They are just a single point ahead of the 4th Azerbaijan, and just 2 points behind the 2nd Northern Ireland. Only the top teams from each group advance to the World Cup, along with the 8 best 2nd-placed teams, so the Czechs will be looking for nothing other than a win here.
The two teams have met on 7 occasions in the past, with the Czechs having won the majority of the matches (4-1-2). However, most matches were back in the 90s, when the Czech Republic were a respectable force in the soccer scene. Even so, they now need the 3 points more than ever in order to compete for the 2nd spot, but I would rather take the Over 2 Goals here.
Prediction : Over 2 Goals (-134).
