While the LA Lakers are a team with a historic record of being a championship caliber team, it is quite clear that this season will be a rebuilding season. Kobe Bryant is recovering from injury and has yet to take the floor in a regular season game and veteran Steve Nash is considering retirement with an ailing back. After the Dwight Howard debacle a season ago, the Lakers are left to pick up the pieces. Now they have to try and stay above .500 until they can get Kobe back in the lineup.
Their opponent on Friday night is headed in the opposite direction. The Warriors are playing great basketball and they have a team that is considered a contender in the western conference as well as a team that can win the NBA Championship. The one thing that they do have in common with the Lakers is that one of their best players is hurting.
Stephen Curry was diagnosed with what the team called a “mild concussion” and he did not suit up in the last game against the Memphis Grizzlies. His status has not been announced for this game, but expect the Warriors to take it slow with their best player and the future of the franchise. Even without Curry, the basketball betting trends favor the Warriors in this contest.
The Lakers are 7-19-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 27 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games when playing against a team with a winning straight up record and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 against the Western Conference. The Warriors will obviously be a much better team with Curry in the lineup, but they still have plenty of talent in the lineup.
The Warriors have averaged 104.9 points a night while holding teams to 97.2. The Lakers are at 99.4 points a game while giving up 103.8 a game.
The Lakers have adjusted their lineup with some positive results. Since Jordan Hill and Wesley Johnson joined the starting lineup, the Lakers have found a stronger rotation defensively. Hill has been a significant force offensively and on the boards. They will need a good outing to keep this game close.

The Warriors, like many teams, get up for this game since it is still in LA against the Lakers. The Warriors are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings and at this point in the season they have the much better team. Look for a big double digit win by the Warriors as they wipe out the Lakers.
