Tunisia have been stunning in the World Cup Qualifiers so far, as despite the fact that they are mostly using players from the domestic league, they are on the verge of making it to the 2018 World Cup. They will play host to Libya in their final match in the Group Stage, and they will need at least a draw point to see them through to the World Cup. However, DR Congo are hosting Guinea at the same time, and Tunisia can be left out if they lose and DR Congo win.
Tunisia Preview :
Tunisia (4-1-0) are just minutes away from their return to the World Cup for the first time since 2006. They are currently sitting at the top of Group A with 13 points, having scored 11 goals against 4 conceded.
DR Congo are sitting at the 2nd spot with 10 points, and Tunisia will need at least one point against Libya in order to secure their qualification.
Tunisia have comfortably won both home matches so far, with a 2-0 against Guinea, and a 2-1 against DR Congo. They did require a strong performance against DR Congo, but they outperformed them on both matches.
DR Congo had taken a two goal lead at home against Tunisia, but the Eagles of Carthage managed to pull even with goals at the 77th and 79th minute for the final 2-2. That was the only match that they failed to win, but they looked great nonetheless.
Libya Preview :
Libya (1-0-4) have failed to make an impact in the soccer world, and this time it is not any different.
They have only managed to defeat Guinea by 1-0 at home, but have lost each of their other 4 matches so far.
They are sitting at the bottom of Group A with just 3 points, having scored 4 goals against 10 conceded.
Despite their overall inability to grab points, Libya have actually been quite consistent scorers.
They have scored at least once in each of their last 6 matches in all competitions, including 3 matches for the African Cup of Nations.
Tunisia vs Libya Head-to-Head Stats :
Tunisia won by 0-1 in Libya in the first round, after scoring from the spot at the 50th minute.
There has been total balance between the two sides in competitive matches, with each team having won twice.
However, Tunisia have recorded a couple more wins in friendly matches.
Oddly enough, all 6 matches between the two teams in all competitions featured Under 2.5 Goals, and there haven’t been any matches with goals from both sides.
Tunisia vs Libya Prediction :
Tunisia will look to win this one and be done with the qualification, and there is no indication that they will mess up. They have been really competitive overall, and their defense is no joke. Libya will be looking to finish off in the best possible manner, and keep in mind that they have scored in each of their last 6 matches.
Tunisia vs Libya Betting Tips :
Tunisia don’t even need a win here in order to qualify, but that doesn’t mean that they will not go for it. However, I feel much more comfortable to go with the Under 2.75 Goals @ 1.80 here, as all matches between the two teams featured very few goals. Tunisia will force a slow tempo in order to avoid any mishaps.
