NBA Betting: Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Lakers
- Updated: April 1, 2014
The Portland Trail Blazers have been very focused all season long, which explains why they are headed to the Western Conference playoffs. But they have looked especially sharp lately, with three straight victories, by a combined total of 39 points, and they will look to continue that as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers in NBA betting action that is slated to get underway at 10:35 PM ET at the Staples Center.
Portland is 49-27 straight-up, which is good enough to be fifth in the West, although they are just two games ahead of the Golden State Warriors. The Blazers have been rather strong against the number, with a 41-34 ATS record. The Lakers are 25-48 straight-up, and are next-to-last in the West (thank God for the Utah Jazz). They are 37-34-2 against the basketball pointspread.
VietBet customers who have observed the Blazers this season know that they have been rather fortunate to be healthy, and that when LaMarcus Aldridge had to sit out some time it was the first time that a Portland starter had missed a game. Considering that his initial injury absence took place after the All-Star break, that is pretty astounding. Aldridge had sat out five games beginning on February 19 and has recently come back from a seven-game absence (back issues). A couple of nights ago against Memphis he clocked the Grizzlies for 28 points in a 105-98 victory, which was Portland’s third in a row, all since Aldridge’s return.
NBA bettors who would like to put their financial support behind the Lakers have been disappointed that power forward Pau Gasol has been unavailable with a vertigo problem. But this team, after having been humiliated 143-107 last Friday, didn’t need Gasol at all two nights ago, as it scored a 115-99 win over a Phoenix Suns team that is supposed to be fighting like hell for one of the two wide-open playoff spots in the West. The Lakers allowed just 38.5% shooting, which was the first time in the last 18 games that they had held an opponent under 40%. Chris Kaman was dominant, with 28 points and 17 rebounds, and the Lakers also got 17 points off the bench from Ryan Kelly, as they won outright as a nine-point underdog in the pro basketball odds.
As some VietBet patrons have noticed, Kaman is one of those players who at various times has found himself in the doghouse of coach Mike D’Antoni. But his stay in Los Angeles may turn out to be longer than that of D’Antoni, who is rumored to be considering a move to his alma mater, Marshall University, which recently created a coaching vacancy.
These teams have split their two meetings, with the road team winning both times. Portland took a 114-108 decision at Staples on December 1, as the Blazers got to the free throw line 34 times. At the Moda Center on March 3, the Lakers came away with a 107-106 victory as the Blazers, who pulled down 20 offensive rebounds, also committed 20 turnovers.
For Tuesday night’s game, Gasol is expected to come back from the vertigo problem, but there have been a few rumors NBA bettors have heard about his situation as well; for instance, that he is not particularly interested in making an effort to play if he doesn’t have his contract situation settled with the Lakers.
At any rate, other Lakers will be sidelined, including Steve Nash and Jordan Farmar. Xavier Henry is listed as questionable, and of course Kobe Bryant, seeing how bad this team has turned out to be, decided not to even come back from his knee injury.
All of a sudden, nobody seems to want to play for the Lakers. Of course, there are not many people who can blame them.
