Another week in the NBA is coming to an end, and this Sunday, February 5, we have an inter-conference tilt in Memphis, so take a look at the best Raptors vs. Grizzlies betting pick and odds.
Memphis is hoping to avoid the third straight defeat when they welcome Toronto at FedExForum. The Grizzlies are 5-point favorites on BookMaker Sportsbook, while the total is set at N/A points. These inter-conference rivals will meet for the second time this season, the Grizzlies won 119-106 in Toronto in December.
Raptors beat the Rockets in Houston
The Toronto Raptors (24-30, 26-28-0 ATS) managed to snap a two-game losing skid with a 117-110 road victory over the Houston Rockets. Following a couple of losses to the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz, the Raptors defeated the Rockets despite allowing 39 points in the fourth quarter. They had a double-digit lead for most of the second half and were ever in jeopardy of losing this game. Toronto was sharp from beyond the arc, making 15 three-pointers opposite Houston’s seven. With the upcoming duel against Memphis, the Raptors will conclude their seven-game road trip and then will return to Toronto for a five-game home stand.
Fred VanVleet led the Raptors with a game-high 32 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Gary Trent Jr. scored 29, Pascal Siakam added 23 points, six boards, four dishes, and two steals, Scottie Barnes posted a 13/6/4 line, while Chris Boucher had 11 points, team-high eight rebounds, and game-high three blocks.
SF Otto Porter Jr. (foot) is done for the season, while SF OG Anunoby (wrist) is out indefinitely and will not play in Memphis on Sunday.
Grizzlies didn’t have a chance in Cleveland
The Memphis Grizzlies (32-20, 24-27-1 ATS) are still going through their worst phase of the season; after snapping a five-game losing streak with a win over Indiana, they returned to losing ways with defeats against the Trail Blazers and Cavaliers. The Grizzlies couldn’t stop the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 128-113 road loss and now returned to Tennessee for a three-game homestay. Memphis was inferior in almost every department against Cleveland, particularly in assists as the Cavs dominated that segment (33-22). The Grizzlies also made even 18 turnovers in this defeat.
Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 25 points. Ja Morant was right behind with 24 points, eight rebounds, and team-high eight assists, Santi Aldama recorded a double-double of 21 points and team-high ten boards, while Brandon Clarke scored ten points.
C Steven Adams (Knee) and SG Dillon Brooks (suspension) are out and will not feature against the Raptors. PG Ja Morant (wrist) and PF Jaren Jackson Jr. (thigh) are questionable.
Trends:
Toronto:
- 4-1 ATS in the last five games vs. a team with a winning % above .600
- 9-3 ATS in the last 12 games against Memphis
- 5-0 ATS in the last five games when playing on the road against Memphis
Memphis:
- 2-7 ATS in the last nine games overall
Toronto Raptors vs. Memphis Grizzlies Pick
The Raptors have been underachievers so far in the campaign, but I believe they could exploit the fact that the Grizzlies are paying in their worst form since the beginning of the season. Despite an H2H defeat in Toronto back in December, the Raptors do have a solid record against Memphis in recent years and they know how to play against strong teams, while they are struggling in those games they are the favorites. The Grizzlies are not the same without Steven Adams and his interior presence; they lost five out of six games since he suffered an injury. Toronto has some great big guys and will hurt the hosts in the paint. I am backing the visitors to at least cover this one.
Pick: Take the Raptors at +5.5 (-130)
The Total
The Grizzlies have a top-10 offense in the NBA that is scoring 116.5 points per game, but that offense wasn’t very good lately. Memphis failed to score more than 113 points in six of the last seven games, while on the other hand, Toronto has been quite inconsistent when it comes to scoring. The Raptors are 20th in the league with 113.1 ppg and both teams are close to the top 10 defensively, so I expect a tight one here. Under is 34-11 in the last 45 H2H meetings; Under is 7-1 in the Grizzlies’ previous eight overall, while Under is 5-1 in Memphis’ last six games following an ATS loss.
Pick: Go Under N/A points
