NBA Playoffs Pick: Toronto Raptors at Brooklyn Nets Game Six
- Updated: May 2, 2014
The first round eastern conference series between the Toronto Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets has been a back and forth, entertaining showdown, between two very good teams. The Nets stocked their roster in the offseason with veterans that have championship caliber experience, yet they are still behind the eight ball as they enter game six. The Nets will be at home and will be back by a rowdy home crowd, but that does not change the fact that they are just one game away from being eliminated.
The Toronto Raptors have been a very good surprise team this season who has managed to get overlooked by many of the so called basketball experts. A win over the Nets would send a message that this talented team could provide a challenge for anyone that they face in the playoffs. Before they consider who they could play next, they have to get rid of the Nets, which won’t be an easy task.
This Toronto team wants so badly to belong to this league, wants to matter in this league, and so does their leader, because he’s 6 feet of glowering defiance. Kyle Lowry limped his way to greatness in Game 4, but he was moving without a limp in Game 5. This series is destined to be close. All series long this thing was a race back and forth, back and forth. The Nets are trying to outrun their age, and the Raptors are trying to outrun their youth, and through five games the difference between these two teams is four points, total. These teams are destined to dance like this and game six should be no different.
The latest NBA basketball betting trends indicate that they could do it as early as Friday when they play game six. The Raptors are 16-7-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 25 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game, 22-6-3 ATS in their last 31 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game and 25-12-1 ATS in their last 38 games playing on 1 days rest. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game and 0-5 in the last five home games.
The latest trends from previous meetings also are against the Nets. The Road team is 4-0-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the Raptors are 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Brooklyn. The Nets have a very good team, but the Raptors have the edge in talent and it is becoming painfully obvious. The Nets make this one close, but ultimately the Raptors will win and advance in the NBA playoffs.
