Coastal Carolina narrowly lost a 45-42 game to Louisiana-Monroe. As a group, the Chanticleers collectively completed 14-of-22 passes for 222 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Fred Payton went 10-for-16 for 158 yards and three touchdowns while Bryce Carpenter was four-of-six for 64 yards and one interception. CJ Marable logged an outstanding statline in the loss. Along with 172 rushing yards on 18 attempts (and two TDs), Marable also reeled in four catches for 27 yards.

Texas State has run the ball on 43.2 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Coastal Carolina has a rush percentage of 59.9 percent. The Bobcats have run for 80 yards per game (including 100 per game versus Sun Belt opponents) and have eight touchdowns on the ground this year.
