The Giants rolled to a 9-2 victory on Wednesday night as 107 road underdogs to tie this series at a game apiece heading into Thursday night’s finale. This was after losing the first game 7-3 as 112 underdogs. The total has gone OVER in both games. Wednesday’s win snapped a five-game losing streak and it was just their second victory in the last 10 games. San Francisco is currently 47-59 overall and 19-32 on the road.
Scoring has been the Giants primary issue during this recent slide. With the exception of Wednesday’s nine-run explosion, they had failed to score more than three runs in eight of their previous nine contests. Overall, they are ranked 12th in the National League in scoring with an average of 3.9 runs a game. San Francisco will send Matt Cain to the mound as their starter for this game. The right-hander is 6-6 this season with a 4.79 ERA. Against the Phillies he is 1-4 with an ERA of 3.72.
Philadelphia has had some major trouble of its own winning games lately. Tuesday’s victory snapped an eight-game losing streak that effectively took it out of the race for the NL East Division title. After Wednesday’s lost it is now 50-57 on the year with a 27-22 record at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies’ bats have been quiet as well over their last 10 games with a total of 23 runs that includes the seven runs they scored in the first game of this series. They are ranked 13th in the NL in scoring with 3.8 runs a game. Philadelphia will go will Cole Hamels as their starter on Thursday night. It has been a rough go for the left-hander all season long with a 4-13 record and an ERA of 4.09. He is 5-3 against the Giants with a 4.14 ERA.

While each team took a turn lighting-up the scoreboard in this series, the overall production from each of these lineups is sketchy at best. While neither starter has been at their top form this season, they will be good enough to keep the scoring low in this game. This in turn makes the free MLB pick in this game on the UNDER.
Philadelphia 4 San Francisco 3
