The MLB betting action continues Saturday, June 18, 2022, with a 16-game card, bringing plenty of markets to choose from, so here’s the best Padres vs. Rockies betting pick along with the latest odds update on MyBookie Sportsbook.

San Diego meets Colorado for the second contest of a three-game NL West series at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The Padres are -140 road favorites with a total of 11.5 runs, while the Rockies sit at +120 moneyline odds.

The Padres are fighting for the top of the NL West

Friday night’s clash between San Diego and Colorado has been excluded from the analysis, and the 41-24 Padres were searching for their fifth consecutive victory. They just swept a four-game road set against the Chicago Cubs, and the surging Padres have won 11 of their previous 14 contests at any location.

San Diego was topping the NL West on Friday, only half a game above the LA Dodgers. The Padres owned the fifth-lowest ERA (3.32) and the eighth-highest scoring offense in the majors (4.75 runs per game).

Nick Martinez will take the mound Saturday and meet the Rockies for the second time in just seven days. Last Saturday, the 31-year-old righty threw 5.2 frames of a one-run ball in a no-decision against Colorado, while the Padres eventually won 2-1. Martinez is 2-3 with a 3.74 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in nine starts and two relief appearances (55.1 innings) in 2022.

The Rockies are slumping big time

The Colorado Rockies entered Friday’s tilt against the Padres hoping to snap a three-game skid. They were also riding a seven-game losing streak at Coors Field following a couple of sweeps by the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Guardians.

The Rockies were 27-37 on Friday, sitting bottom of the NL West, two and a half games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks. Colorado had the 13th-highest scoring offense (4.44 runs per game) and the second-highest scoring defense in the majors (5.52).

German Marquez will toe the slab Saturday and shoot for his third straight win. The 27-year-old right-hander tossed seven innings of a two-run ball in a 4-2 victory at Petco Park in San Diego. It was his best in more than two months, and Marquez will carry a 3-5 record, 6.09 ERA, and 1.51 WHIP into his second date with the Padres in 2022.

Trends:

San Diego:

  • 11-3 in the last 14 games overall
  • 11-4 in the last 15 games on the road

Colorado:

  • 4-10 in the last 14 games overall
  • 1-8 in the last nine games at home

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies Pick

The Padres’ offense got off to a slow start to the season, but in the last couple of weeks, San Diego has scored 98 runs over 14 games while slashing .279/.341/.457. On the other side, the Rockies have accounted for 41 runs in their previous 13 games while hitting a miserable .225/.275/.311.

German Marquez scattered six hits and issued zero free passes in the last weekend’s game against the Padres. Over his previous three starts, Marquez has allowed ten walks across 17 innings of work. Both bullpens have been outstanding lately, so I’m expecting the Padres’ bats to make the difference.

Pick: Take San Diego Padres at -140

The Total:

In the last ten days, the Padres ‘pen has recorded a 1.05 ERA and 2.38 FIP, while the Rockies bullpen has accounted for a 1.59 ERA and 1.90 FIP. Of course, the line has been set sky-high at Coors Field, so I would avoid the totals in this game.

It’s hard to trust the starting duo, though both lineups are more dangerous when hitting the southpaws, while the Rockies’ relievers sit at 4.77 ERA for the season. Hereof, I lean toward the under, but you never know what can happen at Coors Field.

Pick: Go under 11.5 runs at +100
