This divisional rivalry game is part of a ten-game slate in the NBA on Thursday, February 23, and here you can check out the best Spurs vs. Mavericks betting pick and odds.

San Antonio is desperate to avoid the 15th consecutive defeat when they visit Dallas at American Airlines Center. The Mavericks are -13.5 favorites on MyBookie Sportsbook, while the total is set at 235 points. These Southwest Division foes will meet for the second time this season, the Mavericks edged the Spurs 126-125 on a New Year’s Day.

Spurs are still unable to snap a losing skid

The San Antonio Spurs (14-45, 24-35-0 ATS) extended the losing run to 15 games after losing the latest one against the Charlotte Hornets. The Spurs are currently on a nine-game road trip which they opened with six defeats. Following this tilt against Dallas, the Spurs will travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz in a back-to-back set. San Antonio shot only 38.3% from the floor in a 120-110 loss to the Hornets, which is the main reason the Spurs lost this one.

Malaki Branham led the Spurs with 23 points and six rebounds. Keldon Johnson added 21 points, eight boards, and four assists, Doug McDermott scored 17 points, Zach Collins posted a double-double of 14 points and game-high 12 rebounds along with a team-high five dimes, while Keita Bates-Diop and Devonte’ Graham combined for 22 points, ten rebounds, six assists, and three thefts.

SG Devin Vassell (ankle) is out indefinitely. PG Tre Jones (foot), SG Romeo Langford (leg), and PF Isaiah Roby (ankle) are questionable to feature on Thursday in Dallas.

Mavericks are looking to bounce back

The Dallas Mavericks (31-29, 22-36-2 ATS) were on a three-game winning run but returned to losing ways and lost the next three. The Mavericks will now open a six-game homestay with this clash against San Antonio and are desperate to get a W. Dallas was inferior against Denver on the road in a 118-109 loss, especially in rebounds (31-43) and assists (25-34), but the Mavs did play without banged up Kyrie Irving.

Luka Doncic led Dallas with a game-high 34 points, team-high nine assists, four rebounds, and game-high four steals. Christian Wood had 17 points and four boards, McKinley Wright chipped in 11 points and four dishes, while A.J. Lawson scored ten points.

PF Davis Bertans (calf) and PF/C Maxi Kleber (hamstring) are out indefinitely. SG Tim Hardaway Jr. (hamstring) is questionable to face the Spurs on Thursday.

Trends:

San Antonio:

• 3-14 ATS in the last 17 games overall

• 7-19 ATS in the last 26 road games

• 1-5 ATS in the last six road games vs. a team with a winning home record

Dallas:

• 12-4-1 ATS in the last 17 games played in February

• 4-1 ATS in the last five Thursday games

San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks Pick

The Mavericks will have both Doncic and Irving ready for this game, and although the offense is not a segment in which the Mavs are much better than the Spurs this season, the hosts will be eager to get the first win with these two starting together. Dallas has a stronger defense; the Mavericks are allowing 112.5 points per game, while San Antonio has the worst D in the NBA that surrenders 122.6 ppg. The Spurs managed to keep their opponents below 117 points three times in the last 20 games. Dallas shouldn’t have problems scoring 120+ here, which would be more than enough for a comfortable W.

Pick: Take the Mavericks at -12.5 (-125)

The Total

These divisional foes gave us an extremely interesting the last time they met, but I don’t expect a similar scenario in this one. Still, I do expect plenty of buckets, especially from the Mavericks, who scored 249 points in two games with both Doncic and Irving starting. Over is 24-10 in the Spurs’ last 34 overall; Over is 14-5 in San Antonio’s previous 19 road games, while Over is 5-2 in the Mavericks’ last seven overall.

Pick: Go Over 232.5 points (-130)
