Matchup: San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat

Pointspread: Miami -6.5
Total Line: 189.5
San Antonio should be celebrating its fifth NBA title in franchise history right now, but instead it is busy preparing for Thursday’s deciding Game 7 after letting Tuesday’s Game 6 slip through its hands. After controlling the scoreboard for the better part of four quarters, the Spurs could not seal the deal in overtime in a 103-100 loss to Miami as 6.5-point road underdogs that evened this series at three games apiece. The total went OVER the 192-point line and it has now gone OVER in the last four games of this series after staying UNDER in the first two.
The key to winning on Thursday night, will hinge on how quickly San Antonio can put this heart-breaking loss behind. If it carries it into the start of Game 7, then the Heat will run away with things. The Spurs are also going to have to do a much better job at shooting the ball especially from three-point range after completing just 27.8 percent of Tuesday’s 18 attempts.
The Heat fully realize that this is their NBA title to lose after Tuesday night’s dramatic come-from-behind overtime victory shifted all the momentum in this series back in their favor with one final game at home to play. You know that LeBron James is going to show-up on Thursday night after posting his fourth career NBA Finals triple-double in Game 6 (32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists) but the rest of the Big Three (Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh) along with key role players in Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers are also going to have to make an impact from the opening tip.
The forces working against Miami will be its inability to win back-to-back games in its last 13 postseason contests. Over that span, it has also been costly to wager on with a 5-8 record against-the spread. The Heat are 0-8 record ATS in their last eight games following a SU win and 0-5 ATS in their last five games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous outing.
Free NBA Finals Game 7 Pick
It is unfortunate that one of these conference champions has to lose this series after they both waged a tremendous battle through the first six games of what has been a true heavyweight bout. While in the end Miami will most likely prevail with the SU win, the free NBA pick in this final showdown is with San Antonio and the 6.5 points.
