The Spanish LaLiga continues this weekend, and although there are a few interesting matchups around, we selected the tilt between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad because this fixture usually produces a bunch of goals and plenty of excitement.
Real Madrid is far from being convincing so far in the season and with a massive clash with PSG is on the horizon, the hosts cannot afford to enter that duel in a bad mood, so the victory is a must here. On the other hand, Real Sociedad still has an aspiration to play European football next year and will be highly motivated to get a positive result against the reigning champions. The game will take place at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, February 10th.

The Meringues secured a much-needed 4-1 win over Valencia after Leganes eliminated them out of Copa del Rey, but a latest 202 draw at Levante came as a big disappointment. Real Madrid got to a 1-0 lead through Sergio Ramos in the 11th minute, but Emmanuel Boateng scored an equalizer late in the first half, and when Isco scored in the 81st minute, everybody expected Real to book three points. However, Levante’s latest addition Giampaolo Pazzini scored on his debut to prevent the visitors from winning. Zinedine Zidane’s side is currently in the 4th position with 39 points, one behind Valencia, and even 19 behind the league leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid played 38 games so far in the 2017/18, recording 23 victories, nine draws, and six losses, with a goal difference of 83:37, which is 3.15 goals per contest on average. The Meringues won just one out of the last five home matches, which is quite alarming as they lost three of them, scoring ten goals in the process, and conceding nine in return.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the team’s top scorer with 20 goals in 27 appearances, but only eight of those came in LaLiga, so CR7 is looking to improve the tally and he could go in double figures with a potential brace here. Gareth Bale has nine goals to his name so far; Marco Asensio added eight, while Isco scored seven goals. Lucas Vasquez is the best assist-maker with seven dishes; Isco and Toni Kroos have six apiece, while Benzema, Marcelo, and Bale recorded five assists each. Zinedine Zidane is only without Jesus Vallejo who is out with a hamstring injury, while the rest of the team is healthy and raring to go.
The Whites and Blues finally snapped a four0game losing streak with a 5-0 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna at Anoeta, in a match where Real Sociedad dominated for the entire 90 minutes and fully deserved to win big. Willian Jose, Sergio Canales, and Aritz Elustondo scored a goal apiece, while Asier Illarramendi recorded a brace as Sociedad bagged three goals in the final 15 minutes. Sociedad is in the 14th position in LaLiga with 26 points, seven behind Sevilla who is occupying the Europa League spot at the moment, and they are still hoping to play European football next term.
Real Sociedad played 30 games in this campaign, recording 12 victories, five draws, and 13 losses, with a goal difference of 60:49, which is 3.63 goals per contest on average. The White and Blues are without an away league win since mid-October as they lost four out of the previous six road matches, scoring just five goals and allowing ten in return.
Willian Jose is the team’s leading scorer with 16 goals in 28 appearances and he scored in the last four games, so Real’s defense has to be very cautious with the Brazilian as leaving him space could hurt the host badly. Mikel Oyarzabal has eight goals to his name; Diego Llorente added seven, while Juanmi contributed with six goals so far. The captain Xabi Prieto is the most creative individual at Anoeta with eight assists; Sergio Canales recorded seven, while Asier Illarramendi and Oyarzabal have five dishes apiece. Eusebio Sacristán cannot count on David Zurutuza (hamstring) and Ruben Pardo (ankle), but other players are fit and ready to go.
Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad – Betting Trends and Match Prediction
- Real Madrid conceded at least a goal in the last five matches at home
- Real Madrid allowed nine goals in the previous five games at Santiago Bernabeu
- Real Madrid scored ten goals in the last five home matches
- Real Sociedad didn’t score on the road in only three out of 14 games this season
- Real Sociedad conceded five goals in the last two away matches
Real Madrid won the previous six H2H encounters and has eight consecutive victories at Santiago Bernabeu, so it isn’t strange why they are huge favorites here. However, Real Sociedad managed to score in six out of those eight tilts in Madrid, and I believe the visitors can do it again on Saturday, so I am backing them to score.
MY PICK: Real Madrid to win and BTTS (+100)
