NCAA Basketball Pick – January 24th

The Michigan Wolverines are going to be back on the hardwood for college basketball betting fans to enjoy on Thursday night when they play host to the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Boilers continue to have all sorts of problems scoring, as they rank just 196th in America at 66.8 points per game. However, over the course of the last few games, they have found some efficiency, namely in the form of a 79-52 beat down of the West Virginia Mountaineers over the weekend. G Rapheal Davis is doing a great job of late with two games out of three with double digits worth of scoring, and G Terone Johnson continues to carry the team by scoring 13.3 points per game. C AJ Hammons is the only real post threat that the team has though, and 10.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game along with 2.1 blocks per night probably doesn’t quite cut it in a game like this one. Someone else is going to need to step up and come up with a huge game if the Boilermakers are going to be able to pull off this upset.

Just as quickly as Michigan was knocked off for the first time this year, the team stormed back and posted a huge victory. The Ohio State Buckeyes were the team to knock Big Blue off by three in Columbus, while the Minnesota Golden Gophers felt Michigan’s wrath in an 83-75 game. What we still have to remember is that this is an awfully young team that is going to have its share of growing pains here in the Big Ten. In terms of raw talent, you’re not going to find a better team in the country than this one. The three guard combo of G Trey Burke, G Tim Hardaway, Jr., and G Nik Stauskas is out of this world, as these three are all shooting at least 48 percent from the floor and are averaging over a dozen points per game. F Glenn Robinson III has been down over the course of these last two games in this, his first year in Ann Arbor, scoring just 17 points in 71 minutes on the court, but he is still doing a nice job defensively and can always be counted upon for a solid night’s work night in and night out.

This is going to be a decent spot to take what will end up being a ton of points. The Boilers aren’t going to be getting any respect in this one, as they are clearly one of the worst teams that the Big Ten has to offer this year. We love the Wolverines, and we think that they have a legitimate chance of cutting down the nets this year, but to win this game by more than two touchdowns seems to be too much to ask. Michigan 76 – Purdue 66
