Portland Trail Blazers at Oklahoma City Thunder ATS Preview
The Trail Blazers lost a close one to the San Antonio Spurs in their last contest, 113-110, but did cover as 6-point underdogs. Damian Lillard put together a good game for Portland, leading both teams in scoring with 28 points on 9-for-28 shooting. San Antonio did a great job of getting and making free throws (24-32; 75.0 percent). Portland, on the other hand, had a turnover percentage of 8.2 (better than their season average of 15.2). The two teams combined to put up 223 points, which hit the projected point total.
In the Thunder’s last outing, they were defeated by the Houston Rockets, 116-112, but they did cover as 10-point underdogs. With 22 points and nine rebounds, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played well. Houston did a fantastic job of making free throws (28-33; 84.8 percent). Oklahoma City, meanwhile, had an offensive rebounding percentage of 34.0 (above their season average of 17.5). Combined, the two clubs scored 228 points, which finished just over the O/U total of 227.
The Thunder won five out of nine contests against the Trail Blazers last season. In the most recent matchup, Portland won 118-115. The Trail Blazers played a nearly perfect game. They had a solid offensive rebounding percentage of 28.3 and a ridiculously low turnover percentage of 7.8. The Thunder were 15.8 and 13.9, respectively, for those same stats.
Since last season, the Trail Blazers are 55-31 straight up (SU) and 48-35-7 against the spread (ATS). Vegas has been fairly accurate when setting the O/U total of Portland games since last season with 49 unders compared to 40 overs.
The Thunder, meanwhile, have records of 50-36 SU and 39-51-2 ATS since last season. Over that same period, games involving Oklahoma City have had a tendency to go under the O/U total (56.5 percent).
It will be a matchup of conflicting styles as the up-tempo Thunder will look to push the more grind-it-out Trail Blazers. Since the 2018-19 season, the Thunder rank third in possessions per game while the Trail Blazers are 14th.
