Vikings trade Percy Harvin to Seahawks for draft picks

by Will Brinson-cbssportsline.com

It's the silly season and there's nothing sillier right now than Percy Harvin trade talks. The silliest thing of all happened was a Monday-afternoon stunner, though, and it involves Vikings actually trading Percy Harvin to the Seahawks. CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman confirms that the Vikings and Seahawks have agreed to exchange Harvin for draft picks, pending a passed physical from Harvin. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports first reported the news after rumors of a possible trade began brewing on Monday.

We'll have to see what the Seahawks are giving up for Harvin before we can determine whether or not they're paying an appropriate price for the talented wideout, but Seattle just landed a dynamic and versatile player who can be a gamechanger.

"Can't believe we got him," a Seahawks source told Freeman.

The deal reportedly involves at least Seattle's 2013 first-round pick, No. 25 overall, Seattle's seventh-round pick in as well as a mid-round pick in 2014

There are major questions when it comes to Harvin, most notably with his locker-room behavior, his ability to stay on the field and his contract demands.

However, few teams have knowledge of Harvin quite like the Seahawks. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell coached Harvin for two years in Minnesota as the offensive coordinator there before joining Seattle.

Additionally, as CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman notes, Pete Carroll has loved Harvin since he recruited him in high school (the only place other than Florida that Harvin visited was USC, with Carroll coaching).

At the 2013 NFL Combine, Vikings GM Rick Speilman said that the team had "no intent" to trade Harvin. Clearly that wasn't the case.

Bit of a heafty price tag but this years draft doesn't seem to be loaded so maybe that late first rounder has a little less jazz to it. Hawks def needed that home run hitter at WR to add to the dynamic Wilson if Harvin has his head on right he could put up some damn good numbers in seatttle
