Kentucky Derby.........

Well it is coming to that time of year when horse owners are prepping their horses for the big races and track seasons..
I am starting to see more and more horses with good breading and prep races at a few tracks, particularly Gulf Steam Park.

Yesterday there was a horse in race 10, Palm Beach Stakes at Gulf Stream Park. The horses name was Rydilluc, trained by Gary Contessa, ridden by Edgar Prado. I have seen plenty of races and this horse was VERY VERY impressive. Held pace close to the lead and pretty much jogged around the track at 1 1/8. At the top of the stretch he was let loose with a little nudge by Prado. He was never even shown the whip, just hand nudged and he took off, even at the finish line this horse was never in full stride.

What made this even more impressive was how the horse behaved after the race......he was prancing around on his toes like it was pre-race. No sweat, no signs of being tired. This horse is a beast. Bred by Medaglia 'D Oro who was a monster horse.

I think this horse was ran on the turf as a prep for another race.....some times trainers with go turf to dirt to condition a horse for next race. This is some horse to keep an eye on if he qualifies for the Kentucky Derby and may be worth a future wager.

You can watch the race on the Gulf Stream web site.

I did hit the Pick Three yesterday. I singled the 5 horse in race 10, if the 5 horse in the 11th race would have won (he came in second by a freaking nose) I would have had 2 Pick three tickets, and he was 40-1. DAM IT!!

Went to Gulfstream on Friday...............I have long ago retired from serious nag wagering, so I don't have any input. Just too tough to beat the takeout(s) over the long run. So, I just go with $100 spending cash in my left pocket, have a nice meal & some brew and mainly go to just watch those beautiful animals. Came home with $70 in that pocket so I consider the day well spent.
GL to all who partake

Never, ever criticize someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes........for at that point they will be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes !

I don't blame you Hitman, betting the ponies can be tough. I also agree that they are beautiful animals, truly are.
Going home with money in your pocket is always a good day.

Thanks for heads up going to keep an eye on that one ! I also enjoy playing the ponies although im more of a casual player 6-12 bucks per race kind of plays with an occassional pick 3 , pick 6 ticket thrown in.

Happy to post on here for all to read. Horses are tough, everyone thinks they have a tip. Just have to look for certain things and stick to it.

I have always said the Derby is a crap shoot, 20 horses banging into each other around the track. Nobody ever gets the perfect trip and some horses get dirt in their face for the first time and hate it.

Never hurts to keep have a little knowledge going in though. Lets keep an eye on this horse and see when he runs next.

I am thinking he runs on March 30th at Gulf Stream or possibley the Wood Memorial April 6th.

This horse is going to run on April 13th in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. Second time on dirt or synthetic so you may get a good price on it. More to come as we get closer to the race.

Big races this weekend at Gulf Stream.

This is very late post, so sorry I did not get to write anything after mentioning this horse back in late March. This hores, Rydilluc did run in the Kentucky Blue Grass and came in 4th. He has the lead pretty much the whole race until the last 2 furlongs....he just got ran down.
I texted Spooky on it that morning, but forgot to write it up in the forum. We saved money anyway.
Still a very good horse who will in all likely hood go back to grass or enter a shorter race next time out.

I will have picks for the Kentucky Derby the night before.

I have my eye on a few horses. Very interesting Jockey changes already going on for the big race on May 4th.
