Has anybody here had back surgery before? If so I would like to hear how it went for you and was it worth it. I have a decision to make about it and keep going back and forth. I think I need to have it done and get it over with, but back surgery scares me. I know people who it worked for and other who it did not. Not afraid to admit I am a little scared over this. Just did three days in the hospital and they wanted me to stay one more night and have the surgery in the morning. I told them I need a few days and go home to discuss it with my wife. Even though I know this is a decision I have to make myself, I am looking for some thoughts. They told me it would be outpatient and they were going to remove two discs.
I haven't, but do know a couple people who have, and it has helped. No problems at all. I know you mentioned chiropractors haven't helped, and it sounds like you have to deteriorated discs. It is a big decision, it would spook me for sure.
First and foremost, I'd research the hospital and your surgeon. Maybe get more than one opinion, if you haven't already.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
I must be gettin' old... I still think baseball is cool.
My back has always given me problems, but never serious enough for surgery. Agree, it is a huge decision. I know of 2 that have done it. My mechanic says he feels like a new man, took him awhile to recover and learn to walk normal again. A bowling buddy also did it and he's happy. But I don't have the intimate details on either.
Never, ever criticize someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes........for at that point they will be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes !
Just remember => If you have a surgeon with a steady hand and God in your hip pocket (or as your co-pilot since you won't have any pockets on the operating table) You'll be good as new soon and pestering the nurses.
