Baseball Teams that I mis-read early on

Couple of teams are killing me early...I know it's way early - the Nationals and Orioles are in first place..but still -

The Angels were supposed to win 95+ games...good pitching with an unstoppable line-up...they are 6-12 averaging less than 4 runs a game betting on them every game so far would have lost you 11.46 units...the hitters that hit 3-4-5 last night are a combined .262 with 1's not just Pujols although he has been stunningly bad - perhaps they need to take a look at their hitting coaches, etc....The Cardinals are laughing all the way to the bank as they are sitting atop their division at 12-7

The Mets were supposed to be horrid - here they are sitting at 10-8...betting on them every game you would be up 3.76 units...I haven't been betting on them....

The Rangers have been good to everyone and it sure looks as if they could win just about every night if they wanted to....I certainly thought they would continue to be good but they have exceeded what I would have thought early on...looks like they should be an automatic play at anything -150 or less...we'll see how often they are that small of a favorite going forward...

Adding Jose Reyes sure hasn't helped the Marlins offense in the early going....they are averaging less than 3.5 runs/game and their last 4 games they have scored 4 runs total...

Sorry - not putting anything out there that you folks don't know - just venting some frustration after going 5-12 in bases the last 3 days....anyone else frustrated please feel free to chime in - LOL

The Braves are another team that's biting me in the ass early - not for any reason other than I pick the wrong side of their games more often than not...they lose when I go with them and they win when I go against them...sorry - just bitchy on a Thursday....LOL

I'm with ya buddy. As an Angel fan, I'm starting to question Soscia and why Mickey Hatcher is still the hitting coach. Trumbo should be in the line up EVERY DAY, and they need to bring up Trout. It's pathetic they can't hit or score runs.

Royals played well last year, and were poised to be a surprise team this year. Uh..... not so much.

I thought the Padres would surprise some people as well, and they're just really bad.

I must be gettin' old... I still think baseball is cool.

Over-rated can a team with this much talent not be able to hit the ball? They are going to lose alot of 2-1 or 3-2 type of games until they get healthy.

Kansas City............everybody talks about the young talent they have and will be a team to be reckoned with. Maybe they are still just too young.

LA Angels..............I don't even have to explain this one.

Miami...........I thought this team might win the division this year. Not sure what their problem is.

NY Mets...............another team that was supposed to suck. Not sure what the deal is with them, but I don't expect it to last.

Under-rated could you not agree. They were supposed to be a good minor league team in comparison to everybody else, ye they are in first place.

Teams I think can turn it around

Phillies.............Howard and Utely need to come back. Hopefully Lee will not be out to much longer. Considering how horrible they have been, it could be much worse in the standings.

Boston.............too much talent to keep on losing, especially on the offensive end.

Miami............had them as an under-rated team, but they are much better than what they are playing and will turn it around.

The pitching will eventually catch up to Baltimore. They seem to play well right through the ASB and just around the 100 game mark go on this losing stretch like 17/19 and fall flat on their faces in last place. Hammel and Hunter are off to great starts but it's no surprise that Matusz is still struggling and the bullpen must continue to prove through the summer they can finish up quality starts.

How about those Nats? Not exactly crushing the ball in a pitcher's haven but it's nice to see Adam Laroche lead the team with 14 RBI's and a .313 average. Now if they could get some more production from Zimemrman, Desmond and Jayson Werth they could maintain to contend in the NL East. Strasburg has looked sharp early, and with Detwiler and the addition of Gio the future only looks brighter.

With 20 runs scored over the last 3 games, Philly's offense seems to be coming around. Hopefully when Howard returns he will cut down on his strikeouts and avoid trying to crush the ball out of Citizens every turn at bat. Utley should hopefully be back soon as well, Halladay, Hamels and Worley will be fine, but Blanton hopefully isn't pitching himself into the bullpen again.

Arizona has fallen flat especially at the plate after a good start losing 7 of their last 9 and hitting .234 as a team. Chris Young has 5 HR out of the gate and is hitting over .400 while Aaron Hill and Jason Kubel have each belted 3 dingers. Ian Kennedy has picked up where he left off from last year and the addition of Miley gives the snakes options, but Cahill and Collementer have had some rough outings and the bullpen will need to be more consistent if they look to recover from a slow start.

I've been surprised how bad the Angles hitting has been as well. Pujols has been almost invisible. Low average and OBP and no power hits to speak of.

Too early to say anything for sure yet. Take another month or two to be sure.. Some teams will improve a lot, others will regress.
