Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is officially listed as doubtful for Week 1's game at Houston.

Multiple media outlets reported Sunday night that Manning continues to show little progress in his recovery from neck surgery, which forced sportsbooks into action.

After already moving Houston from +1 to -3 earlier during preseason play, some oddsmakers had the Texans set as high as -9 by Monday evening.

No NFL player listed as doubtful started a game last season. The 35-year-old Manning, who will be entering his 14th season, has never missed a regular-season game since the Colts made him the No. 1 overall pick in 1998.

ESPN reported that the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player is being re-evaluated by a number of doctors to determine why he is making such slow progress from the surgery, but reported that surgery is not an option at the moment.

Meanwhile, the news in Kansas City was much better.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said quarterback Matt Cassel was a full participant in Monday's practice.

Cassel suffered a cracked rip in the team's final preseason game, leading to speculation over his status for Sunday's season opener against Buffalo.

His ability to practice Monday appears to indicate that Cassel will be good to go against the Bills. He told the Kansas City Star on Monday that he was "ready to roll."

Cassel threw for 3,116 yards and 27 touchdowns against only seven interceptions last season.

Now the Chiefs are pegged around -7 at most shops after dipping to -4.5 when Cassel’s status was in doubt.
