I was out of town and I forgot to post the Uncle Sigh was running again Saturday in the Gotham Stakes.
He went up against Samraat again and some other very good horses. Last time he was neck and neck with Samraat but could not keep up and they ran 1 and 2 both at 1-1 odds.
Saturday they finished 1 and 2 again with odds of 2-1 and 4-1. They both stepped up in competition running again Kentucky bread horses and other stakes winners and stakes places horses. It was a really really good race. Samraat, Uncle Sigh and In Trouble finished within head bob of each other with Samraat winning yet again. He now has 5 starts and 5 wins. Uncle Sigh rated this time around choosing not to go for the lead and came running with Samraat to catch the front running In Trouble mid stretch and from there it was battle all the way to the wire. Uncle Sigh gained a lot of experience from this race and it definitely put this horse on the map. Corey Nakatani took the ride this time over the previous rider, Pable Morales. I would be surprised to this rider stay or maybe go for the big guns in Costellano or another rider.
Samraat is the real deal now. This is a horse to look for Future Wagers on for derby horse. I always say in my derby analysis that horses who have never gotten dirt in the face are tough bets Both Samraat and Uncle Sigh rated this time around and got some dirt in the face which is good experience for both. Many races to go, but never too early to have something to look for.
