3 point line

I read an article yesterday discussing the NBA moving the 3point line back even further!!! The article gave no reasons for the change, just that it was under consideration.

I was wondering anyone's thoughts on this!?

Are the guys just getting to good/no challenge so to speak? Do they feel the game is in need of more excitment? Do they just not like the high scores? I mean goodness if they move the line much farther back perhaps it should be a 4point line - or Hey why not the current 3 line and a new 4 line (let's really make the refs and scorekeepers work)!

I have no problem moving back the 3 point line a foot or so. If they can move it back in college and then move it closer then the NBA should not be discriminated. However if you want to adopt a rule where halfcourt shots or beyond count as 4 points that's fine, however it would destroy the integrity of the game. That's why you see teams practice strategies (i.e. up 3 and fouling the opponent in the final few seconds, a team needing three points making the first and missing the second with hopes of rebounding and a put back, fouling a jump shooter beyond the arc giving the player a chance to make all 3 FTs, etc).

I think the current rules in progress should stand, however a foot or so further might not make much difference when it comes to 3 pointers since they are back rimmed or strong armed when missed in the first place.
