Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs at Washington Redskins
Spread: Chiefs minus-3
Public consensus pick: 87 percent picked Chiefs
Public perception: The public is all over the Chiefs, though a lot of it has to do with the Redskins (3-9 SU and ATS and losers of their past four) being one of the biggest underachieving teams this season.
Wiseguys' view: While the vast majority of bets have been coming in on the Chiefs, the wiseguys were busy snapping up all the 3.5s that were available early in the week (the line opened as high as 4 at the Wynn Las Vegas). The Redskins have been fadeable for a while, but the wiseguys have abandoning the Chiefs' bandwagon in recent weeks
Tuley's Take: This is a light week for home underdogs despite the Jaguars coming through Thursday night against the Texans, but I can't bring myself to back the Redskins here. I don't trust their defense (and despite the Chiefs' loss to the Broncos, at least their offense opened up and they should carry that momentum into this week). I think the overinflation of the Chiefs' lines that we took advantage of earlier has come to an end and this number is actually short.
The Ravens are looking for their first three-game winning streak of the campaign and will also hope to semi-corral Vikings star Adrian Peterson, who rushed for a season-best 211 yards in last week’s overtime win over the Chicago Bears.
Matt Cassel is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Vikings after throwing for 243 yards in relief of Christian Ponder, who left the game against the Bears after suffering a concussion. While Minnesota has struggled on the road, the Ravens have been strong at home with a 5-1 mark while allowing just 12.3 points per game. Baltimore is tied with the Miami Dolphins for the final AFC spot but holds the tiebreaker by virtue of its win over the Dolphins on Oct. 6.
LINE: The Ravens opened -7.5 and are now -7. The total is down to 41.5 from the opening 43.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the low-30s with freezing rain and/or snow in the forecast.
COVERS POWER RANKINGS: Minnesota (+5.0) + Baltimore (0.0) + home field (-3.0) = Ravens -8.0
* Vikings are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four meetings.
* Ravens are 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games.
* Under is 7-1 in Ravens last 8 home games.
