What a huge, huge game we have here in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, and a large part of it is going to be seeing how the Alabama Crimson Tide respond after losing their spot in the National Championship on that epic play against the Auburn Tigers just before the SEC Championship game. The missed field goal that turned into a touchdown for Auburn as time expired will be remembered forever, and now Alabama needs to bounce back in a huge way in order to grab a win in the Sugar Bowl.

The Crimson Tide finished up the year with an 11-1 record, losing just that game to Auburn, and they were amazing on both sides of the football to say the least. The team put up a great 38.8 points per game, and allowed an absolutely stunning 11.3 points per game defensively. Their defense strikes fear into opponents' hearts, and Bob Stoops and his Oklahoma Sooners will have their work cut out for them.

Oklahoma on the other side is no slouch by any means. A 10-2 record this year, and they average 31.8 points per game, while giving up just 21.3 points per game. The key to the Oklahoma success has really been their run game, as they ranked 102nd in all of college football in passing yards.

Passing Game

The rush games between these two teams are similar, as Oklahoma actually averages 235.8 yards per game on the ground, and Alabama averages 212 yards per game on the ground. The passing game is the question though, as Alabama averages 236.9 yards per game through the air, which is solid, but Oklahoma has definitely struggled passing the ball, averaging just 186.7 yards per game. I see this being a major issue for Oklahoma, especially against a strong pass defense of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama will win this game, probably one of the better games to tease down or play on the moneyline if you want to go that way in some parlays, but not sure if this game is worth laying more than 2 touchdowns. The Crimson Tide are going to likely have mixed emotions coming into this game, but I don't think they'll blow out the Sooners. Bob Stoops has a strong record against top teams in the country, and I think that their defense is going to play strong in the Sugar Bowl. The current betting line on this game is at -17 for the Sooners, and as long as I can get more than two touchdowns for the Sooners I will have a tough time not to take them to cover the big number. Going to wait and see what develops and will update as we get closer to game but it looks like its a play on the Sooners. Haven been doing a lot of overthinking this bowl season which has bit me in the ass. The system and power ratings have worked out very well, including Iowa, Michigan State, Central Florida among a few that I never followed. Shame on me.
